For us, I’m actually HAPPY to report that it certainly LOOKS like our guys have EXACTLY the right attitude:
Instead of worrying about where they stand in the relative rankings, they are INDEED simply focusing on the next game, the next TEAM they play...
In this Saturday’s Tennessee game, of course, it sure SEEMS as if concentrating mainly on stopping their brilliant young RB, who nails down what was SUPPOSED to be a “dominant” running game behind a stellar O-LINE.
But it turns out “not so much”—what success they’ve had has COME on the ground, but has been mainly thanks to the talent and hard work of their #1 RB, Eric Gray.
I’m confident Grantham will have our D ready for him (and it SHOULDN’T require any further angry public displays from Mullens, either—we’ll likely be having a different discussion entirely post-game if it does!).
I’m personally hoping to see a bit of a “break out” game overall from Kyle Trask—a “RE-break out” if you like—We’d ALL like to see him slinging it around “early and often”, cold weather or no: Getting us out to an early lead and reminding the college football world how and why he roared to the front of the Heisman race to begin with!
Would WELCOME a “bit of a laugher” for a change; but mainly “Just go out and take care of business EARLY.
I’ll leave it to
@Escambia94, to break it down, confirm or deny it, but my IMPRESSION is that when these games start EARLY, we DON’T appear to “wake up” til well into the game—a lot of times NOT TIL THE SECOND HALF!
But that ISN’T the case for later-starting games...In FACT, these mid-AFT starting games are more to our liking, it seems.
What about that, E-? Is that really “a trend”? And not just for us; I’m not sure, but I get the impression that a LOT of SEC teams have better results in games with mid-afternoon kick-off times.
There are those that have voiced concern that we would be better off THIS TIME with an earlier start, before the colder temperatures the teams will likely face (especially passing teams, like ourselves) as it gets dark later—but I’m not so sure. I’m thinking our collective “attitude” and “state-of-mind” is and will be a more important factor than that assumes.
Anyway, when all is said and done this won’t exactly be “the frozen tundra” by any means, even for “southern boys”.
In the final analysis, I like our chances.
(PS LOVE the latest uniforms brought out for this one...Especially the blue helmet with white-outlined script “Gators” on it...After complaining about all the “less-than-impressive new uniforms” they’d BEEN coming out with, since that complaint on my part I must admit that BOTH subsequent unveiling’s, both for road games, have bee WINNERS, I gotta admit.
The “ALL-WHITES” were so CLEAN, I REALLY liked THEM...and though these aren’t QUITE as “striking”, they are still sharp—MORE than “acceptable”, from my P.O.V.
For my part, OK with ME if they pull these out from time to time, GH it a big road game or whatever. The “ALL-WHITES”, on the other hand, are different, and stand out enough that I think they should be SPARING in their use: Pull them out for Championships or big rivalries ONLY, I think.)
