Here are the takeaways from the Vandy game:
    1. Vegas points.
      1. The Gators covered the 48-point over/under and 26-point spread, and then some.
    2. Offensive football points.
      1. The Gators exceeded their 30.8-point game average and pitched their third shutout of the season (UT Martin, Towson, Vanderbilt).
      2. Florida totaled 560 yards of offense.
      3. Kyle Trask had a career day: 25/37 363 YDS 2 INT 70.3 QBR 165.9 RAT.
      4. Emory Jones threw a nice ball to Jacob Copeland in what could be a preview of next year's key connection.
      5. Trask and Jones completed 67.5% of their passes combined to 11 different receivers for 410 yards.
      6. The rushing offense is still alarming, considering the fact that the top 5 rushers were not running backs: Kadarius Toney 39 YDS, Emory Jones 34 YDS, Kyle Trask 25 YDS, Freddie Swain 28 YDS
      7. Top running back output: Lamical Perine 13 YDS, Malik Davis 7 YDS, Nayquan Wright 6 YDS, Iverson Clement 5 YDS, Dameon Pierce 3. YDS.
      8. The Gators are outscoring all opponents 203-66 in the second half and 108-28 in the 4th quarter.
      9. The Gators have also scored > 24 points in 13 of 14 games (Georgia, 17 points).
      10. The Gators boast the #31 passing offense, #3 in the SEC.
    3. Defensive football points.
      1. The Gators kept Vandy below their seasonal averages of 17.0 PPG and 125.9 rushing YPG.
      2. The Gators bottled up Ke'shawn Vaughn and held him to 28 yards rushing and 14 yards receiving.
      3. Florida returned to form with its "havoc rate" by forcing 3 turnovers, including two interceptions by Dovovan "Stingy" Stiner, and a fumble caused by Mohamoud Diabate that was returned 80 yards by Jon Greenard.
      4. Diabate registered three sacks in relief of the injured Jeremiah Moon, who will be out for the remainder of the season.
      5. Shawn Davis registered six tackles (four solo), and a couple highlight reel gems.
    4. Special teams points.
      1. Evan McPherson missed a 40-yard field goal.
      2. Freddie Swain is consistent, but not flashy as punt returner. He averaged four yards per return in four attempts.
      3. Backup kicker Chris Howard made two PATs and now has 4 points to his career.
    5. Overall points.
      1. The Gators are now 41-10-2 all-time against the Commodores, including 22-2-1 in Gainesville.
      2. The Gators are 4th in the nation with 14 interceptions.
Overall, I am pleased with the Gators rebounding from a disappointing loss last week. I know that we as fans have effectively given up on the Gators, but this team genuinely loves playing together and I am happy to see them turn in a good performance in front of a full crowd of over 86,500 fans in the Veterans Day tribute. Ike Hilliard was the guest Mr. Two Bits. Ike is a reminder of days past, but remember that this team is still in year 2 under Dan Mullen. This team is talented, but not deep. Without talent and depth, this is about where Florida should be in year 2.

The victory against Vanderbilt was the Gators’ third shutout of the year. The last three times the Gators pitched three shutouts in one season:
    • 2019 (Towson, UT Martin, Vanderbilt)
    • 1988 (Montana State, Indiana State, Mississippi State)
    • 1960 (FSU, Miami, Vanderbilt)
