Annual Gator Gallop Set to Kick-Off 2008 Homecoming Festivities
Gainesville, FL - Wednesday October 1, 2008
Gator Gallop, a two-mile fun run, is set to kick off 2008 Homecoming festivities on the morning of Friday, October 24th. Each year, hundreds of students, faculty, and families participate in the annual event, which immediately precedes the Homecoming Parade. Gator Gallop invites Gator fans of all ages to walk, roll, run, or bring their pets as they follow part of the Parade route down University Avenue. The annual event is sponsored by SunTrust, Florida Blue Key, and the University Athletic Association.
The race will start at 11:30 a.m. for walkers/runners and 11:15 a.m. for all others. Proceeds will go to the University Athletic Association and Florida Blue Key with awards being given to both the overall male and female winners of the Gator Gallop.
Participants may pre-register starting October 1st at the Southwest Recreation Center, the Reitz Union Colonnade, and the Florida Blue Key office. Online registration is also available. Pre-registration is $10 and day-of-race registration, which will be taking place at Percy Beard Track from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., is $15 (cash only).
