Chris Rainey is getting a second chance at the University of Florida. About one month after being arrested on aggravated stalking charges - for sending a former girlfriend a "Time to die" text message - Rainey has rejoined the Gator football team in a limited capacity. He has started practicing with teammates but will not be playing this Saturday. Urban Meyer has set out a plan/guidelines for Chris to follow... if he follows them without screwing up he will get a chance to play football again.
"Chris Rainey is working toward being part of our football team again," Meyer said. "I'm disappointed that he violated a core value of our program, but he continues to pay a price for his actions. Chris will have to meet a set of conditions to become a part of our team again and although he is practicing, he will not play this weekend. The timetable for his return will depend on his ability to follow the guidelines we have laid out for him."
No one approves of what Rainey did, but as Gator fans, we should welcome him back to the team and have faith in Urban Meyer that he is doing the right thing. No one can argue the talent and explosiveness Rainey brings to the team - you can easily see how his absence has affected the offense.
