ON OFFENSE

Tim Tebow's first stint as Florida's starting quarterback has been nothing short of spectacular. He has thrown for eight touchdowns and rushed for five in three games. With Tebow leading the way, Urban Meyer's spread offense is second in the nation in scoring, averaging 55.7 points a game. Receiver Andre Caldwell is sidelined with an injury, but the Gators still have multiple weapons in receivers Cornelius Ingram, Percy Harvin, Louis Murphy and Riley Cooper. The run game is led by Kestahn Moore (214 yards, 3 TDs).

ON DEFENSE

The defense was Florida's biggest question mark after losing nine starters from the national title team. But so far so good. Defensive end Derrick Harvey, a returning starter, has two sacks. Linebacker Brandon Spikes leads Florida in tackles (29). Dustin Doe returned a fumble 18 yards for a score against Tennessee. Strong safety Tony Joiner anchors a young secondary that is breaking in three new starters. Florida is 71st in the nation in passing defense (233.3 yards), but sixth against the run (46 yards).

INTANGIBLES

Florida cleared the first hurdle in its title defense by smashing Tennessee. The Gators will be on the road for the first time when they play at Ole Miss. Florida hasn't had much success in the state lately, losing its past three. That included a 17-14 loss in Oxford in 2002.

Being sixth against the run speaks volumes for what Strong and Meyer can do to a defense. Our run defense was my biggest question mark coming into the year. I thought teams would pound through the middle of our line like it's their job. But guys like Torrey Davis have been stepping up nicely.
