Wilber Buddyhia Marshall played linebacker for Charley Pell from 1980 to 1983. He played on the same high school team as Cris Collinsworth, and finished his high school career as a Parade All-American.

When he arrived in Gainesville, he was the core of a ferocious Gators defense and finished his college career with 343 tackles (9th all-time), 58 tackles for a loss, and 23 quarterback sacks (5th all-time).

He is one of the five Gator Greats on the University of Florida’s Ring of Honor. Mr. Marshall is a 2-time 1st-team All-American (1982 & 1983), 3-time All-SEC winner (1981-1983), and the 1983 National Defensive Player of the Year.

UF named him the Defensive Player of the Century during the selection of the school’s Team of the Century. The Chicago Bears selected Wilber with overall pick #11 in the 1984 NFL Draft. Marshall went on to win two Super Bowls teams during his NFL career and was named All-Pro three times. He is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame and the University of Florida Athletic Association Hall of Fame.
