Thats it! Ok, Jesus H Keerist!!!
Um--not exactly a triumphant return to play.
But we did win.
Now: What did we learn? LOL No, don't worry--I won't TOUCH all that now.
But we got a LOT to talk about. It'll keep--but any thoughts that "the future is now" sure as HELL ain't so. I don't know HOW it's gonna work, but I feel like Mullen has to know now that he will have to somehow begin the "transition" this season somehow...(Meanwhile, they're interviewing Filipe on the field post game and I want SOMEONE to ask, "Hey Filipe, what in HELL were you doimg throwing the ball as soon as you got under center and minutes simply needing burning off the clock for the victory???" Was that HIS idea? Lets hope so--'cause stupid as it was, if that was Mullens idea, though NOT necessarily a bad one under CERTAIN circumstances, given both his poor decisions and his poor accuracy ALL NIGHT, that was hardly the time for it. And he threw it directly into THREE OPEN HURRICANE DEFENDERS!)
Anyway, we can talk about all that and more later; The one positive thing we can say is that we seem to have developed the habit of "coming back" and winning such games. I have headache--but it'd be a whole lot worse one had we lost--especially the way it would have had to have ended up that way, given all that ensued.
I'll be looking forward to what y'all really THOUGHT of that performance by our guys--and what you think it means as to what we can reasonably expect rest of the way. What SHOULD Mullen do?

How is it that their true Freshman QB threw no interceptions and Franks throws two?
They were BAD ones, too--poor throws in situations where he shouldn't have been throwing it in the first place...one more symptom of what by now is a slew of details that more and more flesh out Fillipe's limitations as a major college QB. He has most of the physical requirements and practical tools--He just all too often fails to put them altogether in consistent fashion, nor seemingly can call on them upon demand. More than ever I think this game aptly demonstrated his limitations: This is who he IS...SURE, he's capable of better days, but it's just as likely he'll have worse ones too. I believe we've pretty well seen his best, overall--and overall it just isn't "good enough", practicaly OR emotionally. Not for who we are at UF, and/or where we need to be.
The question NOW is, given all the details, where do we go from here?--and the even bigger, harder question is, "How do we GET there?" Unless Mullen himself steps forward and takes positive steps towards envisioning our future at quarterback and making that happen, it can only end up being the worst kind of scenario, replete with resentment and inconsistency that affects every aspect not only of onfield play but team character and chemistry in the lockeroom. I'm just not sure there IS any "good way" to accomplish it. At some point, the Coach just has to make a decision that is "good for the team" and see it through, hope that it all works out for the best, as intended.
I just don't see it happening that way.
No, I'm afraid that instead, due to "circumstances beyond our control" it'll all be left to develop "organically"--Everyone will do their best, HOPE for the best according to their best intentions and the values, philosophy and approach that life and experience has taught them, and which they in turn try to apply and live by in every aspect of their lives...but none of that necessarily can avoid pain or disappointment. Unfortunately, it is a cold, hard world, and in these sorts of things eventually it all comes down to "Doing your job".

On the bright side, Franks' passer rating was 151.6, which is actually pretty good. His QBR was only 36.1 or so due to the lost fumbles. Without the fumbles, his QBR is probably around an 80, which is pretty good.

Interesting comparison:
Tim Tebow versus Miami in 2008:
Passing: 21/35 (60%) 256 YD 2 TD 0 INT
QBR: 101.3
Rushing: 13 CAR 55 YD 0 TD

Feleipe Franks versus Miami in 2019:
Passing: 17/27 (63%) 254 YD 2 TD 2 INT
QBR: 87.7 (103.3 with 1 INT)
Rushing: 7 CAR 8 YD 1 TD

If we take away one interception, Franks' statistics are very Tebow-esque against Miami.

Tebow should have had three touchdowns against them. He threw a deep bomb to Louis Murphy but it was called back for too many men in the box or not enough men in the box. Some BS call.

The video game simulation predicted 31-21, Gators. This game could have been 31-20 if Franks and Perine had not messed up the mesh exchange on the 6-yard line with Van Jefferson sitting in the endzone.

Interesting...So you imply that had it not been for an essentially UNpredictable sequence of fluky occurences, the "video simulation" was damn near spot on...and a BUNCH of such "simulations" by the same program has us taking this game against UK handily...Hmmmmmm...We shall see.
(By the way, these announcers here on ESPN finishing off their telecast of UCF's dismantling of Stanford are presently, in self-satisfied fashion, insisting confidently that "UCF is clearly the top provram in the State of Florida..." And so on. They follow this with a muttering whitewash of the program's supposed difficulty in finding schools willing to PLAY them--complety ignoring the recent pattern of such "difficulties" in truth arising as a result of THEIR OWN resistance and waffling on the details, in the process creating the very difficukties, ultimatums and obstructions that for example led to a potential game with UF falling through...
HEY! If you TRULY wanted to raise your profile and relative rep IN the State of Florida, and btw the REST of the nation at large, one'd THINK you'd have JUMPED at the chance to play US. But you instead found picky, arrogamt and whiny excuses to eventually MISS that opportunity as our next 5 year schedule steadily was filled out. "Oh darn. Bad luck. Y'all are DUCKING US!!!" was of course your reaction in safe aftermath.
