Wow how we lose faith so quickly. Very easy to get spoiled. We lost a lot of team leaders from the 07 season. Have faith that it will get corrected. There is no way that even if we go 5-7 again is zook getting fired.
Yeah, it will get corrected, and you're getting better and better - Zook is a one-trick pony, but you Illini fans don't see that. Hey, if you're fine and dandy with 5-7 OK, but you won't win championships that way. Any other school would can a coach who couldn't win!
If these things are not corrected, expect more of what happened last year. Should not take a genius to figure that out. We still have the same special teams coach and defensive coordinators. Hopefully they can figure things out.
As long as Zook's still the maestro out there on Zuppke Field, don't count on it.
If Zook doesn't go 9-3, he'll have the worst first 5 year record of any Illinois head coach ever (among those that were able to stick around for five years). If he can't get us to a bowl this year, why doesn't that get you fired? What are the reasonable expectations for an Illini coach in his fifth year?
Obviously not as high as they are at Florida and other schools, considering Zook's record is 18-30 after four years and he's still got a job. Any other school would have shown their coach the door with a win-loss record like that.
