I suppose I'd somehow instinctively found myself more snd more coming to this ANYWAY, but with the latest news of some of our "blue chip" recruits in latest "updatings" supposedly dropping in the area of a hundred places WITHOUT HAVING PLAYED A GAME so far what after all HAS been the OFF-season, I am placing less faith or credence than EVER in such rankings.
Just based on the evidence of our own eyes and "what we've seen so far", I have more and more come to rely mostly on the judgment and perceived talent of Billy and his Coaches in their evaluational skills and in particular patient TEAM-building--a "culture of WINNING" ultimately emerging out of "mutual support" as much as outstanding individual talent: It takes BOTH, and little of this is reflected in the sensationalistic search-fueled, click bait musings of most online commentators. Anyway, at this point I choose to trust Coach and his staff over the various hidden biases of business-as-usual "hired online experts".
There are some questions regarding depth, but in terms of overall strength and balance across-the-BOARD, it certainly APPEARS as if this is as talented a total Gator TEAM as we have seen entering summer camp in the run-up to a season opener in a number of years.
The trick now is to come together, work hard, and take nothing for granted.
It's a tough schedule; it will take a TOUGH TEAM to negotiate it successfully...but it is a PROCESS:
There will be ups and downs. I see this as a "Three Act Play", the two "By"-weeks the dividers between an easy opener and a steep incline from there, the ongoing gauntlet of midseason (mostly) road-challenges, then, whatever our destiny with the onset of Act 3 to close things out.
Yes, an oversimplification to be sure.
But for now, "To HELL with the "experts", trolls and naysayers!":
We don't play them. We play a succession of likewise talented but imperfect opponents--one-by-ONE.
Healthy and in the proper frame of mind, pacing ourselves, staying relatively healthy and growing stronger as a team, who knows how high our ceiling can be?
This Head Coach has been trying to build this program back to what it once was--a perennial part of the inevitable question: "Who is at the top of the SEC?!!" It won't always be us--it won't "ALWAYS" be anyone...But it is long past time for us to again be a part of that discussion about this time each year.
"Tough schedule" or not, it is time for us to elbow our way back IN.
