YES--ABOUT FRIGGING TIME!~!! Driskel to Hammond after the pick...TD! THIS is who we HAVE to be: Gillessly, plus a long break-a-tackle-and-run TD here and there. That plus our defense can do some damage--but against anyone but Bowling Green, we're probably DOWN 3 touchdowns by this point on the road in the SEC (like next week--I do NOT like our chances in College Station now--unless this all turns out to be some sort of aberation, which the signs all say it ISN'T...and I don't CARE if BG turns out to be the "class-of-the-MAC", IT'S STILL THE MAC, and we shouldn't have struggled thisd way this long...I don't know WHAT they'll do about the penalties, for eg., tho' at least that seems to have finally cooled down since that last drive of theirs, when we escorted them down the field).

I'm a Muschamp-supporter, until now, but this has been a severe disappointment: It has been the WAY we've been challenged, the way we've once again been beating ourselves and lacked discipline and coolness that is the most worrisome...We KNOW there's talent all over the field on this team, but the main problems are a result of us beating ourselves. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the penalties: that shows a breakdown in the sense of "team", in the trust and respect that players have for their coaches, and for each other. (Meanwhile, Gillislee continues to get stronger as the game goes on--the mark of the really good ones....and Brown drops one right in his hands with real estate ahead of him) Actually, now that it seems a (albeit tentative) decision has been made at QB, I'm less worried about that: Driskel CAN play the position, and play it well--he just needs to say "F*ck it!" and throw the ball instinctively the way he has practically his whole life, like he did on that TD pass, and stop thinking so much (Long FG by Sturgis...starting to stumblingly, bumblingly assert ourselves finally), and he'll be fine. It's all these other issues that are difficult to see fixed quickly, or anytime soon, for that matter--on too many levels, nothing has changed since LAST season...Bad News!

I just hope we can beat the damn vols I can't stand losing to those pos
We BETTER cut down on the penalties, and play tighter offense a lot earlier, or we'll be in deep doo-doo against ANY SEC team...remember, we had a highly-rated defense LAST year, but even they got tired and were left vulnerable late in games by a toothless offense that couldn't at least give that "D" a couple of extended rests in the course of the game, let alone give them a lead to defend.
Meanwhile, it's "more-of-the-same" here, with our now-tired defense giving up yards late when just one more stop could have put it away...and ANOTHER crucial "illegal substitution" penalty to extend a BG drive--and that is TOTALLY on the coaches. We are a sloppy team with some glaring, team-wide problems that will be hard to fix at all, let alone in a week or two.
(Gators make stop on 4th down to pretty well end the last threat...but even with a 10-win BG team, this was NOTHING to be proud of, except for maybe one guy: Gillissley...everyone else, coaches included, have to look in the mirror, then get down to HARD work...)

GEEZ, we get possession of a muffed punt and lose 2 guys--our long snapper (who made a nice play recovering it, and is a difficult guy to replace on ANY team--and that looks like either a broken arm or a dislocated shoulder) and another one of our secondary guys, playing special teams here (No. 9, limping off with what looks like a calf- or high-ankle-strain).
This is what happens with flawed teams, let's face it: somehow, when it rains it pours, and on the heels of mistakes there seem always to be fluky injuries and OTHER breakdowns (--like missing chip-shot FGs near game's-end!).
What do Y'ALL think will happen next week in College Station? The Aggies got an extra break here, imo, their opener against LA.Tech, expected to be every bit as tough as this one turned out to be for us, got cancelled due to weather--so they come in healthier than us, having shown NOTHING in the way of their new offensive scheme, where we go in somewhat beaten and bruised--and can only HOPE that what we just saw was some "vanilla version" of what we've REALLY got, that will turn out NOT to have told them much more about us than their NOT playing revealed to us about them (fat chance, right?). And we're STILL an undisciplined, selfishly careless and foolishly impulsive penalty-gathering group.
My bottomline analysis: THIS team, the one we witnessed this aft/evening, is a .500 team, one that could easily fail to even make one of the also-ran, "Flat Tire" Bowls. Now, I don't doubt that the coaches can and will address some of the most glaring issues in time for next week, and even more so, in steady fashion, as the season moves along: We'll be a considerably better team by October, but the deepest problems may not be fixable so quickly--we just don't have the depth yet to absorb injuries AND disappointing let-downs on the part of previously promising prospects who turn out to be selfish freelancers when crunch time comes.
Well, either we pull a "Jeckle/Hyde" and just play a WHOLE lot better against the Aggies, or we'll be LUCKY to get out of September 2-and-2, AND we'll be battered and bruised and moving people all over the place to plug too many holes by then. Our defense CAN keep us in ANY game, but we MUST be able to throw the long ball to free up Gilly against the top SEC defenses, which in turn lets us drive the field for stretches , THAT in turn resting that "D" and giving it a chance to get some rest AND play from ahead, defend the lead instead of holding on for dear life and HOPING the offense can do something at the end. THAT just won't get it done.
It's a dark "night-of-gameday 1" when our best hope is that our Gators will turn out to be almost the complete opposite by Week 2 of what they barely showed in Week 1.

Well I'm happy it looks like driskel is gonna be our guy, so with that out of the way we can focus on the much needed things like turnovers, penalties and the other issues. Hopefully they will turn driskel loose a little bit next week. It was ugly and sorda embarrassing but we got the win. Go Gators.
