He played some fullback, running back, tight end, quarterback, and even receiver. His stats weren't gaudy, but he played hard with a couple of nice plays in the win. It has to be hard for a quarterback to accept a role change if and when it comes. The darling of the fans and media, the quarterback is usually the absolute team leader. If you ever thought Burton didn't consider it a prize, you should pay attention to the unselfishness he has presented when confronted of the likely possibility of that role changing even after John Brantley moves on. The guy that had a great spring and outlived most folks thoughts on how well he would be during that time has been asked to be something different than a quarterback. He has been asked to use his physical gifts to play in different spots on the field.

This team looks like a mix of the 2006 and 2007 teams. We need Trey Burton to act as Wildcat QB and short yardage battering ram this year. Brantley will probably play next year, at the same time we should be getting Jeff Driskel, a serious contender that may force Burton to switch positions.

I'm not so comfortable with letting Burton completely abandon the QB position. We don't have a QB after Brantley leaves, though a lot is expected of Jeff Driskel who is still in high school.

Don't get me wrong though, I love bragging that our backup QB also plays FB and TE.

Jeff Driskel will be good. If he doesn't change his mind, he will be the first #1 HS QB prospect to pick UF in a long time. (No, Tebow was not a #1 prospect.)

From what I've read on Twitter last night, Burton seems to have won the #2 slot on the depth chart ahead of Tyler Murphy.
