As many as five quarterbacks could see playing time Saturday when 14th-ranked Florida plays host to 12th-ranked LSU. John Brantley, Trey Burton and possibly even Jordan Reed will take snaps for the Gators. Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee will take snaps for the Tigers.
The issue both teams face, however, is how to battle predictability that comes when a team has two quarterbacks with a distinct skill set.
When the running quarterback is in the game, the defense is going to play run. When the passing quarterback is in, the defense will play pass.
The answer is to mix things up — have the running quarterback throw the ball and the passing quarterback run. But that plays against their strengths, which isn't ideal.
