"The Gators’ colors may be blue and orange, but the most important color at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium these days is green.
The University of Florida announced in a press release this morning that the Heavener Football Complex, a $28 million extension to The Swamp which opened in 2008 and houses the Gators’ football offices, weight room and an atrium for the national championship trophies, has been ranked as one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in the United States.
The Heavener complex received platinum certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, the highest ranking available.
There are only 130 platinum buildings in the U.S. and 141 worldwide, and it is the first building in Florida and the first athletic facility in the nation to achieve platinum status. "
