Ex-Gator Coach suspended

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- New Mexico coach Mike Locksley has been suspended one game and will miss 10 days as punishment for striking an assistant coach.
Locksley initially was reprimanded but athletic director Paul Krebs now says the coach will not be allowed to have any contact with the team this week from Tuesday through Friday and Monday through Oct. 24.
Locksley won't be on the sidelines when the Lobos (0-6) play their next game against visiting UNLV on Oct. 24.
Assistant George Barlow, who coaches New Mexico's defensive backs, will serve as an interim coach.
New Mexico has a bye this week.
Receivers coach J.B. Gerald told Albuquerque police Locksley struck him during a Sept. 20 staff meeting at the football office, splitting his lip.

Lox was on Zook's staff at UF and Illinois up until last year when he took the New Mexico job.

I wish he would have knocked some sense into Zook's head too, but then again Zook was the master micromanager as far as his assistants went as he held them on a tight leash, and made them his scapegoats by throwing them under the bus when things went wrong instead of taking accountability as he should have.

I wish he would have knocked some sense into Zook's head too, but then again Zook was the master micromanager as far as his assistants went as he held them on a tight leash, and made them his scapegoats by throwing them under the bus when things went wrong instead of taking accountability as he should have.

Talking about Zook, Lox, or both? Well Illinois are 1-4 and if they have a losing record this year, their fans will literally throw Zook under a bus or a truck or whatever.

Lox seems to be burning his bridges at New Mexico; I don't see him lasting that long out there.

Zook's only repeating the same mistakes at "Illinoise" that got him fired at UF - minus the frat-house fight. Some Illini fans are already getting restless and disgusted with Zook, based on what I've ssen from randomly lurking on their boards.
