Reggie McGrew was a member Steve Spurrier's Florida Gators from 1995 to 1998 and was a key defensive lineman and defensive tackle on the 1996 Gators squad that defeated the Florida State Seminoles 52–20 in the Sugar Bowl to win the Bowl Alliance national championship. After redshirting his freshman year, he earned a starting role where he was named first-team All SEC his junior season in 1998. He was pick #24 for the San Francisco 49ers in the 1999 NFL draft. After leaving the NFL, he returned to Florida and earned his sociology degree in 2010.
