Errict Undra Rhett came to Gainesville from Hollywood, Florida as an accomplished high school running back and wrestler. He played tailback for Steve Spurrier's Florida Gators from 1990 to 1993, where he is known for breaking Emmitt Smith's career rushing record with 4163 yards and leading the Gators in rushing all four years. As the first tailback under Spurrier's Fun N' Gun offense, Errict was instrumental in proving out Spurrier's theories of using passing to open up rushing, rather than the conventional wisdom of the time in using rushing to open up passing. Errict also finished with 1248 receiving yards as the outlet receiver in this pass-oriented offense. He was a key member and first team All SEC on two SEC championship teams, one in 1991 and one in 1993. In his senior season of 1993, he was named team captain, All SEC, first team All American, and team MVP. Errict finished his career with 4163 yards rushing (1st in team history), 34 rushing TDs (3rd in team history), 1248 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs. For more information on Errict's college statistics and how he fares compared to other notable Gator running backs, be sure to check this [LINK]. Errict was selected in the 2nd round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He retired from professional football in 2001 and was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2005 as a Gator Great.
