are the florida coaches that dumb?

I know we are plagued with injuries and have a quarterback who can't lead a team if his life depended on it, but I honestly think one of the announcers can better coach the team. Even on the fake field goal by LSU, how was not one single florida player prepared for it?

Brantley also made a lot of mistakes that cost us the game. Highly recruited 5 star qb? What a letdown. He is a fragile boy who should be counseled out. Why does his throws get tipped so damn much?

honestly i think meyers coaches around him are actually making him stupid. I have no other way to explain it. He talks about players looking like ". A deer in a head light" what about coaches who look like " a deer in a head light"?

This is the second straight week in which the Florida coaching staff was exposed. No matter what anyone says the talent is there to win games, however, the coaching staff is not! look at the following points:
1) The sign of a great coach is someone who designs and excutes plays to the strengths of his players. Brantley is NOT an option quaterback. No one respects him as a runner so stop running so many toss option plays. THROW THE BALL!
2) Brantley is a drop back passer. Have him throw the ball down the field. The Florida coaching staff has Brantley wasting plays tossing the ball behind the line of scrimmage and throwing in the flat for short or no gains. This allows the defense to crowd the line, keeping everything in front of the linebackers, and kills the run game.
3) The play calling is WAY TO PREDICTABLE! I think the Florida play book consists of about 10 plays. I have the ability to tell wheather Florida is going to run or pass as soon as they come to the line.
4) As much as I like these small speedster running backs and athletes, Florida needs a power back. Florida has no power game to "punch" the ball into the endzone off the one yard line. Recuit a power back in the 215 to 230 pound range. (Ah the ole days of Eric Rhett, Fred tayor, Neal Anderson, John L. Williams to name a few)
5) I have come to the conclusion that Meyer is not the mastermind everyone has been lead to believe. I beleive Dan Mullen was the mastermind. Floridas offense was just as horrible last year after Mullens departure and that was with a veteran group of players. Dan Mullen is the offensive guru. The Florida coaching staff better wake up because Mullen is coming to town next week and it might be "lost number 3 in a row".

why did they even recruit brantley if they wont let him throw? should just recruit option qb's if thats all they want to do. I think addazio is running coach boones offense from remember the titans. only run 5 plays, give it time and it always works, just like novacaine. only it hasnt worked and wont work.

I trust Coach Boone with the offense than Addazio heck I trust Denzel with the offense more.

Living in Kentucky, I don't get a lot of Florida football coverage, so I joined here to see if I was the only one feeling this way. Glad to see I am not. You hit all these points right on the head!

I would think that Urban is pretty fed up with all of this too. Someone else has to start calling plays. The offense underachieved last year too, difference was we had tebow, hernandez, and cooper to bail us out all the time. This offense still has no identity after 6 games. After that swing pass to gillislee got us a nice game I knew we'd start seeing that play on a regular basis.

That confuses me too. Maybe Florida was prepared for a fake, but a different fake? Maybe there was no way to reliably defend all fake FG possibilities, so Meyer just told the team to sell out with one of the potential fake FG attempts and hope for the best? Maybe Meyer somehow knew OT was out of the question? I'm trying to side with the coaches here, but I really don't get it either...

As for Brantley, he's doing just fine in my opinion. Our offensive line is really lousy this year. Ok, so maybe they're not THAT bad, but they're not protecting Brantley well (hence the sacks and tipped balls), the snaps aren't reliable, and they're definitely not blocking that well for our running game. Do you notice that when Brantley isn't being rushed, there's no tipped ball, and we have 4+ WRs, Brantley completes a 10+ yard pass or converts for the first down with a pass? Yes, I know that's asking for a lot, but it's not like Brantley is making boneheaded plays in my opinion. Brantley is accurate and can make the throws, but our offensive line isn't doing him ANY favors.

I noticed on the replay that jelani jenkins wouldve been in position to make the tackle short of the first down but he slipped on the play.

Same thing that Spurrier failed to do with Doug Johnson in 1997. Adjusted his playbook fit Johnson strengths and Meyer and CO are doing the same thing with Brantley. Either adjust the playbook or recruit guys like Tebow or Burton to run the offense. They threw the ball when Tebow was quarterback.
