OK...They go for the long fg here...No: They are punting!
So it was a stop after all.
But we GET it on our 1.
Alright: For our season...
Can we drive it OUT of this HOLE, at least? Too much to ask them to drive 99 yards, I suppose. Would sure be great, though. ‘Cause up til now, the “breaks” keep going THEIR way.
Like I said, one of these kind of games was bound to bite us, sooner or later.
WE CANNOT F-up here now, that is the main thing. Big play to Gamble. THAT IS HUGE. And we are out of the HOLE.
Keep it going in the ground, if you can.

We are back down to where we fumbled a while ago. If we can drive fir the TD now, all will be fine.
Jones is showing HIS strengths now.
You can feel the big “surprise pass” coming—TOUCHDOWN Gamble!

Whew—99 yard drive to undo the damage.
Gentlemen, I think we are gonna at least WIN this game after all.

Again: You DON’T “take your foot off the gas” from here now.
The D has got to get tougher, and the offense probably needs at least one more drive to put this one away.
All in all, we need to (finally) disabuse these Commodores of the whole IDEA that they might somehow beat us after all: Once THAT sinks in, the game clock will elapse somewhat anticlimactically.

In fact, with less than 7 minutes left, we just need to stop them here one more time...I think Coach Dan will give Kyle Trask the chance to drive the offense one more time. Gotta STOP them first, though. We have let them drive on us here again. I still feel like this defense is just too unreliable to allow us to even WIN OUT—but an INT in the endzone by Elam at least does eliminate THIS threat! But even if we do, do y’all think they’ll do enough to allow Trask to win the game against Bama?
Our season AND Trask’s potential Heismann campaign will likely be on the line, it seems.

Gators win more closely than I expected. Not good for the optics the weekend for the first meeting of the CFP. Unless Mac Jones throws for 5 TDs this was okay for the Heisman reel. Trask was two dropped passes away from 400 yards passing. Mick Hubert thinks this was a good day for Trask, an average day for the receivers, and an okay day for the defense

OK :
We win this one by 3 touchdowns after all. AND I’ve said all I have to say about the how, why and when. Probably a little MORE than I had to (but I DO that, admittedly)...
Meanwhile, Indiana (almost as much an “underdog” as Vanderbilt was) is keeping it much closer, MUCH later, against OSU...and from what I have seen of the replays from the first half in Columbus, they squandered some great chances to have the LEAD back THEN: Unless they somehow manage to tie their game up and get it to overtime, they will have their regrets about “what might have been”. All in all, I’d rather be us than Ohio State right about now—and no matter what, this begs the question, “Why exactly is Ohio State the supposed ‘automatic shoe-in’ for one of those FFF playoff spots ANYWAY??!” It certainly “opens the door” for ANOTHER Big 10 team (Wisconsin OR Indiana, if the latter were to somehow get a “rematch” with OSU in their Championship game) to get in, no?
I don’t claim to understand the ACTUAL behind-the-scenes machinations that determine either their Championship OR the FFF rankings...I don’t even know who the “committee members” ARE, let alone how they are chosen or what their “true criteria” are!

...and NO ONE seems to know where “the line” is as far as how many actual GAMES a team needs to have played to make ANY comparison/evaluation of their record to be “valid”!
At SOME point, it doesn’t MATTER what the reasons were or are; You’ve either played enough games to create a “minimal sample” to be evaluated in relation to others—or you HAVEN’T, and are disqualified from consideration “BY DEFAULT”...”Thanks for playing! Here are some complimentary prizes (a New Year’s Bowl), our HOME GAME...and Isn’t he a GOOOOD SPOOORT??!”
LOL

Like to see Kyle get another TD pass here...

Would have been nice to see him get another TD pass or two (one for sure if not for Toney's fumble). However, Lawrence didn't play and Fields struggled, so Trask should still be top on the list.

I had that Ohio St vs Indiana game on muted on my computer, and I’ll tell you: The Poison Nuts just aren’t that impressive—our offense is better, and their DEFENSE HAS ALL THE HOLES that ours does—and today at least appeared NOT to have the ability to rise up and STOP THE OTHER OFFENSE WHEN THEY HAVE TO, as we have more and more showed the tendency to do...
Of course, THEY were playing Indiana, and WE were playing Vanderbilt!
I don’t KNOW FOR CERTAIN that is truly the contrast it would seem to be, but we better hope that Vanderbilt now goes on to show it WASN’T simply the anomaly we are all currently hoping it wasn’t—that they finish THEIR SEASON STRONGLY after this!

That was the first game where we clearly missed Kyle Pitts: Our running game, though still sputtering at times, picked up SOME of the slack, and it wasn’t Gamble’s (who caught a coupla key second half throws at TE) fault by any means—but the mismatch Pitts creates just being out there and running his routes opens things up much the same way a strong running game does!
Gotta hope and BELIEVE we’ll get Kyle BACK next week.
I’m gonna find Mullens’ postgame presser; he generally doesn’t wait until he gets home after a road game, win or lose...He’ll usually have a “Monday Presser” in ADDITION to his postgame remarks...and he’ll be asked about Pitts, the general “flow of the game”, and so on.
Regardless, I agree that with “the competition” having been “sat down”, “eclipsed” for another week, Trask remains at or near the top in ANY event...It will STILL come down I think to the SEC Championship Game:
Fair or not, right or wrong, the winner will come out of that game—and each young man’s performance there: Perform well and (at LEAST as important) WIN there, and you are likely crowned “Heismann winner, 2020”!!
