Too soon for Trask for Heisman?

Just wondering
No—NOT “too soon”; not these days. And so far, he is DEFINITELY “one of those guys”, possibly even “the early FRONT-runner”.
But remember: Tebow won HIS the season BETWEEN our Natty-runs on the teams he was a major part of.
I won’t say it is “either/OR” (look at Burrows and LSU LAST season, after all), but it is more important to us, Trask and the whole TEAM to see our PROGRAM rise to full on success and national recognition than to simply see Kyle win a Heismann as some kind of morale-boosting consolation for NOT making it to the Final game, at LEAST. He’s good—but it is the ultimate rise of the Florida Gators to true annual national Championship contention that we all aim for—Trask included of course.
That game versus Arkansas and Franks is looking more “interesting” than ever. You think Fillipe will be “emotionally motivated” in that one? Possibly to the point that it could work against him: That young man was ALWAYS “wrapped a little tight”. But Kyle and our guys should take it in stride—I think they’ll wish him well—but intent on going out there and “TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS”!!!
Back to whether or not we can be the “complete team” we MUST eventually be if we are to compete with that handful of so-called “ELITE TEAMS” after all.

He has to be on the rise now (granted yes because the front-runner got the Rona). Also, Pitts is in the running as well.

@Leakfan12,
No, it’s NOT “too soon”—in fact, I think he’d be the front-RUNNER right about now if it weren’t for the “national media experts”, the “talking head” “image verifiers” hadn’t prematurely annointed “the Clemsen Pretty Boy” in that role practically BEFORE THE SEASON EVEN STARTED!!!
I mean it: They talk as if it is ASSUMED—and have since Game One.
Even sitting with Covid now that hasn’t let up, nary a pause! Until it does, you are probably shouting into the void.
But keep it up...If our boy keeps playing this way, with the tools around him PLUS A “RUN” of wins put together now from here, ANYTHING is possible!

Yeah, well, I give about as much credence to THAT as I do “media political polls” or “politicians promises at election time”...
Except THESE are more often than not effectively “self-fulfilling prophesies”—if the same people don’t actually MAKE the final call, they certainly influence those that DO.
No, no matter HOW consistent Kyle’s performance from here continues to be, I doubt he can do more than get himself INVITED TO THE CEREMONY in NYC—as one of the “candidate onlookers”!

It is still early, but historically when the Heisman goes to a QB that player must be in the top 5 in terms of passing efficiency, must be on a top-20 team, and must be in a Power 5 conference. Other variables include being on popular teams and good performances in key games. I would go ahead and scratch off Grayson McCall from this list, since it will take a lot of losses and bad performances from others to put a Sun Belt QB in the Heisman watch. Trask is the only one in the adjusted top 5 with a loss, and there is no guarantee that Mac Jones, Justin Fields, or Graham Mertz will get a loss. Maybe if Trask goes nuts on Georgia (29/30 for 400 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT) and performs similarly throughout the season then I can see a comeback. For now, I do not see a path for Trask to win the Heisman. If he increases his rating a bit he could be in the running for Davey O'Brien or something like that.
  1. Graham Mertz, Wisconsin, 273.0, 95.1 QBR, 5 TD, 0 IN, 1-0 B10
  2. Justin Fields, Ohio State, 214.0, 97.2 QBR, 6 TD, 0 INT, 1-0 B10
  3. Mac Jones, Alabama, 210.3, 95.5 QBR, 16 TD, 2 INT, 6-0 SEC
  4. Grayson McCall, Coastal Carolina, 201.8, 89.0 QBR, 15 TD, 1 INT, 6-0 SUN
  5. Zach Wilson, BYU, 198.7, 86.3 QBR, 19 TD, 2 INT, 7-0 IND
  6. Kyle Trask, Florida, 189.2, 90.4 QBR, 18 TD, 2 INT, 3-1 SEC
Mac Jones has the following teams to face and possibly trip him up as the front-runner:
  • @ LSU
  • vs UK
  • vs #24 AUB
  • @ ARK
Justin Fields has a much easier path to overtake Mac Jones should Alabama trip up against Auburn:
  • vs Rutgers
  • @ MD
  • vs #14 IU
  • @ ILL
  • @ MSU
  • vs #23 MICH
Graham Mertz is atop the rankings with only one game under his belt, with a schedule that looks similar to Justin Fields' (since they are in the same conference), with the addition of much easier teams such as Minnesota, Northwestern, and Purdue.

My prediction for the Heisman is Justin Fields.

...and, as I have noted all along, the “media experts” (who in THIS case are, if not “the exact same people“, ARE from the same “pool”) has more or less annointed him from the START—he hasn’t done anything to “LOSE it”, so ya gotta think he is, at the very least, “still on track”!

He went 30/43 for 474 yards and 4 TDs. He's got to be the front runner for sure. Also, probably helped his draft stock.
I did not expect the UGA defense to let Trask pick them apart so easily. The UGA defense injuries were not at CB, where they were beat with great precision from Trask and great athleticism from the receivers, tight ends, and running backs. Kudos to Kyle Trask for putting his name back in the hat for Heisman consideration.

Trask HAS (DESERVEDLY) elbowed his way BACK into the Heismann discussion, but he is NOT yet “at the top”, isn’t in the position of “favorite” by any means; most of the “talking heads” on ESPN’s various College Football shows still have their “longtime favorite” they focus on, and still appear SURPRISED at not only TRASK’S continued skill and efficiency, but the talent around him on the Gator offense:
In this, Pitts’ being knocked out in the first half Saturday seems to have, if anything, forced upon them the realization that “Florida has mismatches all over the field”, and “Kyle Trask can spread it around and keep his squad scoring with proliferation!”...However, I caution us that the EXTREME mismatch that Pitts presents currently is like “the fuse that lights the bomb” that is their scoring offense; if he is out, only something like a resurgent, reliable running game will help fill that void and KEEP them scoring that way...so it is CRUCIAL that we get Kyle Pitts healthy and back out there, and SOON, if we want to see this 2020 Gator team continue its “stretch run drive”.
