Will Tebow be a hit on draft day?

i reeeally hope either the Jags get him or Miami gets him. I think Miami would be a better fit, with the wildcat(plus Tony Sparano will be working with him in the senior bowl)... but the Jags need him more. either way i think somebody will hear rumors, and have to trade up to get him. He's gonna be a bigger hit than some think.

so tough to call...I believe he can play at the next level mentally and physically but what is he willing to do to stay in the league? Will he have to move to another position? Or will he have to have the best Pre-Draft workout ever to try to stay at the QB position. I wouldn’t mind him going to J-Ville. It is no secret they are a run-run to pass team....

i wouldnt count out the Patriots either......Belichick says he really likes Tebow and with Brady getting older they might want him there....as much as i would hate it as a Dolphins fan the Pats might try and take him

I think a smart thing for Tim to do is be somwhere with his family/friends/teammates, and have the broadcast check in with him via satellite. That way he doesn't have to be sitting around in NY in case he doesn't get drafted in the 1st or 2nd round, and espn can still have him on tv.

Only the Jags would take Tebow in round 1, barring a miracle NFL Combine, Senior Bowl, etc. I can see Miami, New England, or some surprise taker in round 2 if Tebow is still available. GainesvillebornNraised pinpointed the key phrase here, "NFL ready" versus simply "better", "fixable", or "has the intangibles". No matter how good Tebow really is, he still has to adapt to a new brand of football. Some teams would try to make it easier by running a wildcat, such as Miami, and some would probably run a spread offense, such as New England. Jacksonville would likely use him as a freak show to draw a crowd in and not bother refining his NFL QB potential. I think he is "fixable"--anyone who picks up the spread-option offense is able to adapt to crazy ideas. To Tebow, the NFL offense should just look like another crazy idea, even though it is the standard to which we judge "normal". He is a smart guy, and he can adapt to the NFL. As I have said all along, there are other QBs with his delivery. Only a coach or experienced scout can really judge his ability to read defenses, but even a casual observer can scour through footage of all the NFL QBs and find that there are at least five QBs with a Tebow-like delivery. Heck, with that deep ball, he could go to the Raiders and just throw deep--the Raiders only have two plays in their playbook, and one is to throw deep to whomever is open (regardless of the color jersey that guy is wearing). I would be disappointed if Tebow were sentenced to languish at Oakland, but they might be that desperate.

In summary: Tebow is not the best QB in the draft, but he has shown that he can adapt to a system as long as a team is willing to accept his flaws. Tebow can re-make himself as some QBs have done, and enjoy success in the NFL. I am not saying he will be a Pro Bowl-caliber QB, but he will do well in the right system.

Rex Grossman said pretty much the same thing when he was interviewed last year and asked about Tebow's chances of making it in the pros.

As far as what team he3 goes to, I'd love to see Jacksonville take him.

I guess that is reassuring. Rex would know--knock his skill if you want, but he has walked down the path that Tebow is about to walk down.

I heard somone on ESPN the other day say the Jags might consider trading the #11 pick for something later in the 1st and a 2nd round pick (they currently don't have a 2nd round pick). They would then draft Tebow later in the 1st or early in the 2nd.

if so jacksonville really is stupid.. they are horrible when it comes to managing the draft and picking players from the draft.

Well put. I have to agree.

Another thought - a quarterback can flourish with the right coach and deteriorate in the wrong hands.

Steve Spurrier could handle Rex Grossman and did a great job of coaching him up, but Zook couldn't instill the same sense of discipline in him nor make good use of his talent.

Chris Leak was stymied under Zook, but Urban Meyer utilized his talent by tailoring a "hybrid" version of the spread offense around him that he could operate and urged him out of his comfort zone.

Talent can take Tim Tebow far, but coaching's just as important as he's entering the next level. I wouldn't want to see him wind up in the wrong hands.
