Touchdown.
But personally, by now I’d rather just see more of AR.
No reflection on Emory’s play here today—HE’S not why we look poorly much of the time.
But (1) AR is our future and clearly NEEDS experience and seasoning out there, and
(2) AR IS our future and we DON’T WANT TO LOSE HIM:
Two STRONG reasons to play him, keep him involved and developing, looking forward and growing with the younger guys on offense.

Our “matador defense” continues to allow VANDERBILT (!) to rack up yards on us here today. Between the ENDLESS PLETHORA of penalties and missed tackles we just bend bend bend—then THEY miss the fg. Lucky for US. Only they finally complete a long pass to the goal line.
Um, folks?
WE SUCK!!!

Well, at least Coach isn’t pussy-footing it as he leaves the field with the team at the half.
“What did you say to your QBs?”
—“Get better.”
“You’re shutting them out...How would you describe your defense?”
—“TERRIBLE!”
...turns and walks into the tunnel.
I couldn’t agree more, Coach.
After LAST week’s game, here we are making all the same mistakes. Here’s what I’D be asking:
“You ready to fire your DC, Coach?”
—and the answer I gotta believe he is close to giving, at least in his “heart-of-hearts”:
“DEFINITELY.”

Our O-line is decimated!
And now we do another 3-and-out with our first possession of half.
Fake! Good time for it, considering how this one was going.

Anyone here?
I feel like a damn fool, commenting to the wind...
Another penalty. PENALTIES.
Alright. That’ll do it for me.
Again: WE SUCK!
I am just disgusted with all facets of this team—except the BIG PLAY potential!
TD pass, Jones to Pierce.
28-0.
But we STILL “suck”—all the crap that has dragged us from the upper reaches still applies, still marks this as an “up’n’DOWN” team, BOTH sides of the ball.
This is EXACTLY the kind of team I DON’T want to root for, don’t even care to WATCH.
Does ANYONE think we “measure up well” against LSU? South Carolina? Mizzou? Let alone UGA?
I mean, I totally AGREE with our Coach’s disgust...The question is, “What will you DO about it, Coach?!!”
And, “Why didn’t ANY of it show out there so far TODAY?!!”
We have the BIG PLAYS, but no other part of our game seems to be sharp—and the broken parts are still “broken”.
Oh, we will win (we ARE WINNING) this one, are pulling by AWAY—but by now I wonder if we could score enough late points to wash away the bad taste already having accumulated by the early-2nd half! No doubt we’ll try—but it’s not enough. We needed to show more—needed to show how we were getting BETTER, steadily STRONGER, more focused—less sloppily careless!
We’re running up the score NOW—and maybe that’ll fool those who didn’t SEE the game—but I doubt it helps us in any real way...and it SHOULDN’T.
We have finally settled down here and taken proper control of this thing here in the 3rd quarter, but not until AFTER pretty well demonstrating how and WHY we lost LAST week.
We ARE missing a lot of guys on BOTH sides off the ball (when do we get Elam back, btw?), but still:
The jury is still out on all the weaknesses and letdowns on this Florida squad:
Who ARE we???
And one again:
WHERE IS AR15??!
Another late throw by Emory gets intercepted on the deflection. So many nice ones before that though.
I just think it’s time, PAST time to see AR! But now Mullen might NOT sub him in until first giving Emory a chance to more or less redeem himself...
But this is EXACTLY what I worry about...confusion at the QB position jeopardizing AR staying.
Meanwhile, another targeting flag, DUMB ASS call. Whew. Don’t wanna lose Dean.
But generally escorting them into the end zone to break the shutout.
For a 42-0 game, we certainly have looked sloppy, even SHAKEY at times.
But gonna force a fg try again.
And he MISSES THE THIRD ONE. I almost feel BADLY for him!
And sure enough, out trots Jones now after all—even crap announcers see it as “don’t leave him on a bad note” thing
—and ANOTHER stupid Gator holding-penalty. We just can’t put a smooth string of possessions together. Punt.
I know I’m talking to a vacuum, but by now it’s something that at least gives ME some calming comfort (lol): This is one I definitely would have turned off if NOT for this very “running commentary”, no matter HOW useless! And I sure don’t care (or NEED) to watch any REPLAY of this one! We are not going ANYWHERE, this season or NEXT I’m afraid. I hope, I WISH I were wrong—but we just haven’t shown what I thought we HAD to show in order to have ANY hope of getting ready for “NEXT YEAR’S RUN” the rest of the way THIS season.
End of 3rd...and I DO love how at least here at home, TP’s “Won’t Back Down” has effectively REPLACED “We Are The Boys” between the 3rd and 4th quarters. I like “traditions” in college football as much as anyone—but THIS I think is a good “update”, a fitting one all around.
And on that note, I will for now gracefully bow out (unless/until at least ONE of y’all chimes in here before or by the end—in which case no doubt I will respond, as appropriate).

Friggin’ EJ5 throwing to nobody. Interception.
Hey E—. Yeah, but the sad truth is, HE wasn’t the worst of what we saw from our team today. Far from it. That HAD to be the WORST “lopsided shut out” I have ever SEEN from a Gator team! WEIRD!
Like I say several times: the same endless penalties, missed tackles, unforced errors!
If I’M Mullen, what do I DO??!
Work the CRAP out of them in some kind of tortuous “drill-regimen”, something “old-style” that pounds lessons of technique into them in PARTICULARLY uncomfortable fashion, to start with.
I don’t know WHAT you do, WHERE you start via a vis all the penalties.
And we are again DEvolving at the quarterback position—with BOTH young men, it seems...I don’t care WHAT Coach (“the QB-Whisperer”) says about it.
We were “a team in trouble”, “a team on the ropes” after last week’s game. We didn’t “get better”, we “failed to improve” by anything we showed out there today.

Here’s where (theoretically anyway) you earn your money, Coach!
Whatever you thought you had before, then AFTER UK, you’ve got all that and MORE in front of you NOW—a HUGE hill, a gorram MOUNTAIN of chores, retools and obstacles you’re gonna have to somehow shoulder, solve and/or overcome—at least get SOME handle on before your NEXT game.
The only piece of relatively GOOD news I have for us is that we DO still appear to have some great “tools”, some of the important PIECES of what I THINK, FEEL, BELIEVE can STILL eventually BE a Championship TEAM someday:
“BUT.” But all those things I listed, those near-endless lists of repeated mistakes, breakdowns and chronic weaknesses MUST BE ADDRESSED. They just GOTTA GO, Coach. And you can’t DO IT alone, bra’! You see it; it ain’t GETTING better—not “better enough”, “FAST enough”. So watcha gonna DO?
You KNOW it’s gotta change.
Gotta change soon, now, the changes have got to come THIS season—begin to take effect, change THE WAY WE PLAY NOW. We have got to begin looking, PLAYING like “winners” heading into NEXT season.
And that is NOT the case so far.

(PS At least we are NOT the Longhorns! I have too many friends and acquaintances here who are suffering this late afternoon, who just can NOT wrap their heads around today’s collapse up in Dallas/Ft Worth in their “Red River Rivalry”.
One of my best friends in these parts, once a wide-ranging sports fan who, like me, has lost his taste for most of the other leagues, teams and games he once followed EXCEPT for his college team, UT, has similarly come to place too much general sense of personal hope and well-being on the performance of his Longhorns and the outcome of each and every game. Even his girlfriend is powerless to help, she bemoans. Yes, WE all know the feeling! Now, after today’s game, he is plunged into the same kind of place WE were LAST Saturday sometime after dark, an “inescapable disappointment and hopelessness” no GAME should have the power to bestow.
I KNOW there is little I can say or do to placate him...Best to just tell him “I GET it!”, give him the space and time to reflect, vent a bit, and beyond that LET IT GO. “It’s JUST A football game, right?” Just a football TEAM, JUST A SEASON...You either “Get it”, or you DON’T. A lot is risked in the hoping, in the long months leading up to each (all too short) actual season. All too often, all too soon we are playing for all too much LESS, after all.
“BUT”. But the rare “pay offs”, in various forms, in various years, ARE WORTH IT—whatever they are, WHENever they DO come. So it goes: I guess that’s why we go through it—put OURSELVES through it!)
Be “seeing”, TALKING to ya!

Exactly! I commented on this exchange right after it happened at the half, as Coach was accosted by that woman “color analyst” on his way off the field...”Coach not inclined to pussyfoot around!” I think was my comment at the time...
I LIKED it, frankly—That’s the way I WANT our Coach to see our 1st-half play today, especially after LAST week’s WEAK performance—on offense in particular (of course, his play-calling was ALSO a “negative factor” there too!).
Interestingly enough, a lot of Gator commentators saw it similarly, and after the game ONE Gainesville site noted that “MULLEN’S terse 3-word halftime comments go viral!”, referring to these very same moments “as he left the field”.

@Leakfan12,
But of course these yappers STILL got it wrong somehow:
Somewhat predictably, they had trouble with why he apparently “has problems when his team’s ahead 21-0...You’re ahead THREE TOUCHDOWNS and you’re shutting out another SEC team, Coach!”
Just goes to show that most of them (except for Herbie, I guess) JUST DON’T GET IT!
I don’t even know where to BEGIN to straighten that one out: I assume there is NO reason to exert myself in explaining it to Y’ALL.
Meanwhile, Kentucky is “similarly” shutting out LSU—but not really “similarly” at all:
They are about to go up 21-0 on LSU early in the 3rd quarter.
We STILL should have beaten them last week—but at the moment that isn’t looking like quite the “momentous collapse” that it LOOKED LIKE from last Saturday’s P.O.V. If we WERE to somehow WIN OUT we ‘d find a good deal of our “respect” (“self-“ and GENERAL) restored and reclaimed after all: Won’t really help us THIS season, but it MIGHT help to set us up for that currently somewhat “mythical” NEXT YEAR’S RUN” I have spoken of. I didn’t think there was much chance of it, ANY of it, but who knows?
This is, has been and CONTINUES TO BE “one weird season”—and I guess at this point I am willing to “suspend all disbelief” and maybe HOPE for some sort of eventual redemption—and dawning new hope?

LSU finally scored from the one, on 4th down...
Now, why couldn’t WE manage that last week? At least SIX such tries inside the five last Saturday, and we couldn’t get it done. All it took was that “little bit of eye-candy” thrown in on the 4th-down run to open an “extra crack”, let their RB power through for the 6 points.
Sigh...”Woulda/shoulda/coulda” again.

Well, UK responds by driving straight down the field again on LSU.
We “should” beat LSU in similar fashion, from where I’M sitting—but then again, what do I know? The longer this season goes on, the more I see the less I think I know about this Gator program. They have the talent and Coach, especially if healthy, to win EVERY GAME REMAINING—with of course the question remaining as to how good UGA really is, and/or how “bad” (or at least tending towards sloppy carelessness/“careless slippiness”?) this GATOR team really is...
UK’s matchup with them next week could tell a lot—but the truth is at THIS point I have very little real “FEEL” for who or what our team amounts to now, no matter WHAT I see game-by-game.
Just ONCE I’d like to see us put a COMPLETE GAME together, our true potential fully realized for the better part of a whole game.
I have the feeling we COULD be very good indeed—but we’d have to reach and HOLD that level of steady, competent (and CONFIDENT) play for FOUR QUARTERS, do it consistently in order to realize our full potential. Until we can do THAT, our efforts AND “potential” will be mainly wasted. I am SURE our Coach sees this clearly—THAT is exactly why he is so gruffly frustrated in his spontaneous on-camera moments!
But what he plans to DO about it, what he thinks will get us where he KNOWS we need to go is the gaping hole in our “possible future”.
Solve it and he (and WE) succeed wildly...
FAIL to do so and WE ALL FAIL DISMALLY.

Closing notes:

- Tim Tebow and Billy Donovan are finally in Florida's Hall of Fame. The ceremony was delayed a year because of COVID-19.

- The #20 Florida Gators did what they were expected to do: beat an overmatched team at home. They will likely remain ranked about #20, which makes them about the #6 or #7 team in SEC power rankings.

- #16 Kentucky (6-0) doubled up LSU (3-3). The Wildcats look like an upper tier SEC team. The Bengal Tigers look like a team in trouble.

- #17 Ole Miss (4-1) survived #13 Arkansas (4-2) on a failed 2-point conversion. Much respect to the Razorbacks.

- aTm upset #1 Alabama. I was hoping that only the Gators could claim to be close to beating Bama this year. Bama may fall to #5 or so. aTm may re-enter the top 20.

Accosted? Really? It wasn't as much as say that woman with Meyer (and Meyer accosted that woman back). Yes, still going there. How bad are the Jags going to lose by?

- Tim Tebow and Billy Donovan are finally in Florida's Hall of Fame. The ceremony was delayed a year because of COVID-19.

- The #20 Florida Gators (4-2) did what they were expected to do: beat an overmatched Vanderbilt (2-4) at home.

#2 Georgia (6-0) is now the best in the SEC, at least until the inevitable SEC championship game. #18 Auburn (4-2) lacked the explosive plays that they showed in recent weeks.

- aTm (4-2) upset #1 Alabama (5-1). I was hoping that only the Gators could claim to be close to beating Bama this year. Bama may fall to #5 or so. aTm may re-enter the top 20.

- In a game that will become an SEC rivalry, #6 Oklahoma (6-0) outlasts #21 Texas (4-2) in a boat race!

Yeah...I admit that was “a bit of an exaggeration” on my part, at best! An intentional bit of facetiousness, I suppose.
Let’s face it: These “analysts” are ALWAYS asking what amount to “lame questions”, often concerning “their target’s emotional state” at inopportune moments in a game—For example, “How do you FEEL...?” about something or other as a Coach or player is walking towards the tunnel at the half or game’s end...
It often amounts to little more than “an opinion-ambush” as that individual, ill-equipped to react or reflect yet on events still jumbled and swirling in their mind, still fresh and having had no time to settle or be placed in any kind of proper perspective, they are nonetheless suddenly and precipitously called upon to analyze and place in some kind of “wise and proper context” decisions and events upon which the balance of their own and their TEAM’S health and future may rest.
ANY response is likely to be “sudden” and “dangerous” at that early, unguarded moment. My POINT at the time was I suppose “approving“ for the very reason that it WAS frank and honest, devoid of underlying guile or calculation was exactly why I APPROVED of it! His answer was without calculation or sophistry...This particular “color analyst” went TROLLING IN AMBUSH, searching for a “colorful response”—and what she GOT was gruff honesty—curt, laconic and to the point.
“Say what you will”, I thought at the time, “THIS Coach (as opposed to our FORMER ONE) didn’t get bogged down in excuses, self-rationalizations or consideration of his ongoing personal image!” Let’s give him THAT much, anyway, right?
