University of Colorado accepts invitation to join Pac-10

In the first change to the Pac-10 Conference in 32 years, the league Thursday morning announced that the University of Colorado has accepted an invitation to join, in what could be merely the first move in a sea change in college athletics.

Five other schools – Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State – are reported to be about to receive invitations from the Pac-10, which has been aggressively exploring means of increasing low revenues.

“The University of Colorado is a perfect match – academically and athletically – with the Pac-10,” said Bruce Benson, the school president.

Looks like change is coming folks... Nebraska to the Big Ten next?

From what I've been hearing on ESPN, Nebraska has already accepted an invite to join the Big Ten.

They talk the talk; now let's see if they can walk the walk and try to keep up with the big dogs week in and week out come 2011.

MWC isn't really the big dogs, but is a very good conference, and now with BSU, they should be considered to be a BCS conference.

But what is the SEC doing now that it looks like the Pac-10 will be a super conference?

I woudn't mind seeing Virginia Tech or Oklahoma coming into the SEC if they want to join. ESPN is alluding to Texas A&M being interested in joining us should the Big 12 disband.

Texas' regents are meeting on Tuesday to decide what they're going to do. Their higher ups had a sit down with A&M's higher ups to decide what they want to do. Apparently they all want their conference to survive, but should they leave Texas wants the major migration to head to the Pac-10 while A&M wants both schools to come to the SEC. I haven't heard anything about Oklahoma though.
