Oh yeah, as you read the subsequent comments from both A&M and the SEC people it is clear they're doing SOME kind of "butt-covering", but I think it is more legal/financial than political (though THAT'S a distinction that gets hazier and hazier as time goes on). In fact, the main thing you get from it all is that nothing has really changed but the rate at which it is happening, and a "clarification" as to HOW it is happening, as in "who called who when, if at all". That only matters in civil courts, not to the public at large.
