Not sure where to drop this comment, but this has to be said SOMEWHERE:
This whole idea of players graduating or otherwise choosing to go pro, going through a training camp and getting cut then suddenly (through dubious legal rulings) being allowed to return to play for a college team, collect NIL money and all the rest is ridiculous—AND a self-destructively eminent threat to whatever remains of college football’s “uniqueness”.
It comes as no real surprise that Lane Kiffen would somehow be in the middle of such a move—trying to find advantage for himself with no regard for young up-and-coming players or the integrity of the sport.
This is another example of why I always disliked and was suspicious of the man, had to somewhat hold my nose in supporting his hiring as our coach (so desperate for a way to finally resurrect our long-foundering program, especially after the moribund Napier years), and now, more than EVER, find myself enormously relieved we were prevented by Kiffen’s own greed from selling our souls in that manner.
Let him wrap some other program in darkness.
We dodged a bullet in his choosing LSU after all (and did just FINE, more than “fine”, in getting Jon Sumrall instead!).
