Orange and Blue things to do

The annual Orange & Blue Debut will once again welcome students to participate in several contests prior to the game, including the return of The Fastest Gator On Campus contest.

The University of Florida, in conjunction with Pepsi, is giving UF students the opportunity to design the 2009 UF Student Football Ticket Holder T-shirt. Students can register and submit their designs representing Florida Football from March 18 through April 13 on www.GatorZone.com.

In addition to the t-shirt contest, University of Florida students will have an opportunity to be a part of several activities leading up to the game. UF Student Government will host a Powder Puff tournament on Friday evening. There, fans will have a chance to watch the flag football event and participate in a punt, pass and kick contest. The finals of the powder puff game will be held prior to the Orange & Blue Debut and the winner of the pass, punt and kick will be recognized during the spring game as well.

For the second consecutive year, UF students will have a chance to compete against some of the 2009 football squad’s fastest players in the Fastest Gator On Campus contest. A competition in the 40-yard dash, this year’s event will separate contestants into two weight classes (under 225 lbs/over 225 lbs). Preliminary races for the event will be held on Thursday, April 2 and Thursday, April 9 on the Florida Football Practice Fields at approximately 4:30 p.m. The semifinals will be held on Friday, April 17 and the contest will culminate with the final races prior to the Orange & Blue Debut.

This is one Saturday I won't mind getting up in the wee hours on to get on the road and head up to Gainesville; I was one of the "early birds" standing in line waiting to get into The Swamp last year! (Left Orlando @5:00 or so; arrived in Gainesville just after 7:30!)

There's also the Alumni BBQ. Discounts to any UF alum. Look for me if you go. I'm the guy with the aura of awesomeness surrounding him.

Never too early!;)
First, have to get a decent parking spot! and then, I only get to go to Gainesville on game days, so have to get it all in on those days: Century Tower, Bookstore, Lake Alice, up & down Museum, up & down University, the lawn behind the Reitz to toss football with my son, the GAME...:bananajump:
And since this is the only spring game, have to get enough campus to hold me until the Fall....

(I think this is why my husband doesn't really like to go to ball games with me, not because he doesn't like the Gators or football, but he says he's EXHAUSTED by the end of the day!!!)
