For all the inescapable negatives already noted here, there ARE a growing list of observed advances that have already come to pass.
For example, our disastrous failures on 3rd downs notwithstanding, we have shown steady improvement on the rest of them. Penalties are finally way down. We are developing depth as the youngest additions get in and begin to aquire real experience. Recruiting is already much improved, and there is every reason to be optimistic in the future of available talent here.
So: Assuming that we can manage to get the kinds of positives I'm looking for in the rest of this season's events and experiences, the future MAY not be so benighted after all.
I expect setbacks, continued frustration with uneven progress, but on the whole it seems we've staked that future on the right man, his vision and plans.
