More injuries during spring practice may change Orange and Blue Debut

Earlier we reported that Alex Anzalone was injured during spring practice. As practice goes on, the Gators have lost more players to injury and surgery.

Joining Anzalone on the injury list are the following players:

• OL Trip Thurman (shoulder)
• OL Chaz Green
• OL Ian Silberman
• OL Jessamen Dunker (suspended)
• OL Max Garcia
• DE Jonathan Bullard (hamstring)
• WR Demarcus Robinson (high ankle sprain, probably return)
• LB Neiron Ball (ankle)
• DB Cody Riggs (hamstring)

He's one we're counting on to shore up the "new" defense, ie. come in and help to replace what we lost to graduation, etc. Though we WILL apparently get him back for fall, him not getting the spring-reps is a real loss--sets the D back some going into the actual season. Fortunately, we DO get mostly a comparatively "easy" start the first month or so of an otherwise difficult schedule, but that rationale was already somewhat stretched by all the other talented-but-inexperienced players we'll be counting on across-the-board. Here's hoping things do fall into place by late Sept.--and that we don't drop one of those "easier" games along the way to hopefully hitting our stride as the season toughens substantially in October and beyond.

Also note that five of the eleven scholarship offensive linemen are injured for spring practice. Yikes.
