Come Meet The UF Basketball Squads Friday At The O'Dome
Gainesville, Fla. - Monday October 20, 2008
The 2008-09 University of Florida men’s and women’s basketball teams will be signing autographs for fans at 5 p.m. on Friday, October 24 at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in conjunction with the Shooting With The Stars fan appreciation event.
Fans will have the opportunity to meet and obtain autographs from their favorite Gator players until 6 p.m. The University Athletic Association will provide the 2008-09 Gator team posters for player autographs and cannot allow outside items to be brought in to the event due to NCAA compliance issues.
Picked to finish second in the SEC East, the men’s team return four of five starters from a team that last year posted the sixth-highest win total in school history. Led by 2007-08 SEC Newcomer of the Year and co-Freshmen of the Year Nick Calathes, Florida brings back nearly 80 percent of its scoring, over 70 percent of its rebounding and over 95 percent of its three-point shooting.
Gates will open for the event at 4:30 p.m. with the first 500 fans receiving free box dinners, courtesy of Firehouse Subs. The first 1,000 fans will receive complimentary t-shirts, courtesy of Tobacco Free Florida.
