The number one ranked University of Florida softball team cruises to a Super Regional by beating Lehigh 9-0 on Sunday in Gainesville to win the regional played here.
The Gators (58-3) won all three games it played in the regional and will now host a Super Regional and play Cal, the winner of the regional played in Tallahassee. Cal beat Oklahoma State in the regional final to advance.
The Gators and Mountain Hawks were scoreless through three innings but Florida would score two runs in the fourth and that was all the cushion senior Stacey Nelson would need in the circle. She tossed a three hit shutout and did not allow a hit after the third inning.
Outfielder Kelsey Bruder had the big offensive day for Florida, going 3 for 4 with five r-b-i. Third baseman Corrie Brooks added a two run homer, her 11th of the year.
The Super Regional is a best two out of three affair with the winner qualifying for the College World Series.
