He went from a Gator to being coached by a Nole (Deion is the coach at JSU).
Yes. Deion Sanders never earned a degree, so he would not qualify as a head coach at a public university in the state of Florida without a waiver. It helps that Jackson State is a great HBCU destination. JSU has produced four Pro Football Hall of Famers, including Walter Payton. I assume James Houston IV was attracted to the HBCU aspect, since he already had a degree from UF (BA in Education Sciences, 2021) and JSU's NIL plan had not picked up momentum at the time Houston announced his transfer.
