Florida is putting together another challenging non-conference schedule for the 2017-18 season.
According to Jon Rothstein of FanRag sports, the Gators will face Cincinnati in the Never Forget Games at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Dec. 9 in a matchup of likely preseason Top 25 teams. Seton Hall and Virginia Commonwealth also will play in the doubleheader event.
Cincinnati returns three starts from a team that finished 30-6 and lost in the Round of 32 to UCLA in the NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats also have added a potential impact transfer in point guard Cane Broome, who was the Northeast Conference player of the year at Sacred Heart before leaving for UC.
Earlier this week, Florida announced it will face Clemson at the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise. So far, Florida has games scheduled against opponents from the ACC (FSU, Clemson), AAC (Cincinnati), Big 12 (Baylor) and Pac 12 (Stanford).
Here’s an early look at UF’s non-conference schedule:
— Nov. 23 — Stanford (PK 80 Tournament, Portland, Ore.)
— Nov. 24 — Gonzaga or Ohio State (PK80 Tournament, Portland, Ore.)
— Nov. 26 — Duke or Texas or Butler or Portland State (PK80 Tournament, Portland, Ore.)
— Dec. 9 — Cincinnati (Never Forget games, Newark, N.J.)
— Dec. 16 — Clemson (Orange Bowl Classic, BB&T Center, Sunrise)
— TBD — Florida State
— Jan. 27 — Baylor (SEC-Big 12 Challenge)
