A week into Fall practice in G-ville and what happens?
Season-ending ACL injury to CB Jayden Hill. Slated to step in as the other starter this year opposite Elam on the other side, these two were among the most hopeful promises of a potential return-to-quality and consistency on defense.
Now what? (I don’t dare ask, “What next ?!!”)
We do have some incoming/up’n’coming alternative possibilities back there, but none of it “well-proven” by any means.
This stuff happens, so all we can do is pick ourselves up, turn the page and get back to work—but once again we are reminded of how it isn’t just “quality of starters” but growing DEPTH that is KEY.
I know I don’t have to dwell on our vulnerability and ongoing needs on defense.
