Mike White finishes his 7-year Florida career at 142-88 (.617)/ 72-52 (.581) with 4 appearances in the NCAA tournament--including a 2nd place finish in the 2016-2017 Elite Eight. For comparison, his predecessor, Billy Donovan, finished his 19-year career at Florida with a record of 467-186 (.715)/ 200-110 (.645) and 14 NCAA tournament appearances--including 2 national championships. Good luck to Mike White as Gator Bait!

Frankly, about TIME he was "Gator Bait" rather than "Gator Coach".
It feels like we have come full circle, back to general irrelevance and mediocrity in the "headline sports programs" in the long years since I first followed (and eventually attended) UF.
Question: At what point do we take a long, close LOOK at the folks overseeing the general health and growth of these programs?
OK: I admit it at least APPEARS that things might finally be getting done "the right way" on the FOOTBALL side of things...If this turns out to be an across-the-board pattern-change, I'll be happy to let it go, look ahead to a rough but mainly upward trend in all our major sports programs--and above all, will TRY AND ENJOY THE RIDE!!!
I guess all I'm saying at this point is that although I have (like the many fans, students and alumni that comprise Gator Nation) tended to view "promising" or "pretty good" to have been the most positive adjectives likely to be applied to any of our programs--and worst of all, when it came to our Foorball program, even THAT was at best getting to be a fading hope!
Well, as always here at UF, FOOTBALL leads the way--so let's all buckle down, start again and see what follows.

Seriously? They lose their coach to the biggest rival. I hope they beat UGA every time, at least have a winning record against that traitor.

Says something about the man, the Coach--and the JUDGMENT of those in charge of overseeing the growth/evolution of our whole sports management side-of-things, no?

Technically Georgia is not a basketball rival, other than the fact the two teams are in the same division. Georgia has never really had a good basketball team, and Florida's basketball program was irrelevant until Billy Donovan arrived, other than a couple good seasons under Norm Sloan (1988-89, SEC Champion) an NCAA Final Four appearance from Lon Kruger's team in 1993-04. The Georgia job makes a lot of sense because there is virtually no pressure to win. UGA has only been in the NCAA tournament 12 times and they went 7-12 with only 1 Final Four appearance in 1983 and a Sweet 16 appearance in 1996. UGA's NIT record is 13-14. Florida on the other hand is a high pressure job and Mike White could not hack it. Florida has 2 national championships, 1 NCAA tournament runner-up, 5 Final Four appearances, 8 Elite Eight appearances, 11 Sweet Sixteen appearances, 23 total NCAA tournament appearances, 4 SEC tournament championships, and 7 SEC regular season championships.
