Let’s all remember that this didn’t look like such a comfortable “tune-up”—against what was at the time of scheduling a well-coached team that had some really solidly successful seasons under its belt—In Fla., yes, but nonetheless “on the road” at their place down in Tampa. It may feel more like a home game to us now, or at least more evenly balanced a crowd when it kicks off at 1pm Eastern Saturday than it might have been, but considering how much Week 1’s game left us to work out before facing the Tide NEXT week, I’m not that disappointed. It should serve our purposes and still allow us to get out of there with a solid victory—at least one would hope.
If E- sets us up with an appropriately solid “Game Day” thread elsewhere here for this one, with his usual fine overview and caveats going in, I promise to look for, find and participate this time!
So many questions still to answer! And somehow I sense they’ll remain mainly unanswerable, considering our next opponent—even at home for that one.
Oh well: It will be interesting to see what we got, what we show against the Bulls THIS weekend in Tampa! I am REALLY looking for a solid game by all units, beginning to end. There’ll be those who would favor a continued more “vanilla” approach on offense, for example, if only to show Saban and Co. as little as possible...but I suspect after LAST week’s unevenness that it is more important to get various aspects of certain individuals’ game, and the offensive variety as a whole more strongly exercised.
In short, I hope and frankly somewhat EXPECT to see a bit of a lopsided blowout here, somewhere in the area of say
45-10.
