GOSH—I HOPE THERE’S A 2020 SEASON!

I just watched a YouTube piece focusing on our “Top 5 Recruits”, and the main thing that generally strikes me in immediate response is simply the gut-level, “no-matter-WHAT-you’ve-heard-LATELY” idea of what a loss, what a “missed opportunity” ANY missed season would be for ANY player or program—especially a major one, especially ESPECIALLY I sense in the case of this year’s Gator Team:
This was, IS a crucial “TRANSITIONAL YEAR” for our program in its steady, gathering drive towards greatness under Dan Mullen.
Realistically, I DO understand the warnings from among certain media commentators, including ones whom I respect, that, given the SEC-GAME’S intensely physical level-of-play ON the field, and the huge, closely packed CROWDS IN THE STANDS, it is HARD to envision how ANY real “safety in social isolation” is possible in EITHER case...I just wonder how that will be “acceptably addressed”...
No use fooling ourselves: There’ll HAVE to be at the very LEAST a frank practical discussion about what the absolute MINIMUM THINGS fans attending can do to maximize THEIR “safety”, AND of course the “acceptable risks” that will have to be prepared for, as possible, and accepted BEYOND that, in order for it all to proceed (as indeed they are proposing right now...).
I’m for it—I think we all NEED it, more than EVER, even WITH a certain level of (acknowledged open, public) “risk”.
How do Y’ALL feel?

I think there will be a football season, but it will be different. Yes, there is a danger from the coronavirus and there will be another wave of infections that will affect different teams in different ways. Maybe all the teams will play modified schedules, and maybe they will gradually add more fans to the stands. The risk calculus will evolve as more data becomes available.

I think there will be a modified football season, and that the Gators are in a great position to win the SEC.

I hope so as well, The Gators have a shot at the national title.
The virus is RE-“spiking”, worse than before in Texas now, for eg. (predictably so: It didn’t take Nostradamus to see it coming once the politicians got involved and made decisions based solely on commerce and poll-numbers)...But I too am selfish: I know logic and safety suggest the height of caution, but I need, believe WE “NEED” our NCAA 2020 Football Season. I think most SEC fans would agree, no matter who they support.
And BOTH your comments apply here in a major way...I hope they find a way—for ALL our sakes!!!

I heard there's talk of Football being played in the Spring with only Conference games and playoffs/bowl games. I hope they can add two more games with a tune-up game and the matchup with FSU. I can see them playing 10 games (9 at least).

This is better than nothing. My only concern is that the SEC is trying to cram 10 games in 11 weeks. The SEC chose to push back the opening almost a month to account for an anticipated COVID-19 spike after Labor Day, but they should have started the season two weeks after Labor Day to account for a 14-day quarantine and make room for another 14-day quarantine later in the season--just in case. People are going to contract the coronavirus, but we have seen so far that college students recover just fine.
