Also there's another guy Marcus Dumervil (nephew of Elvis) whose an OT who will announce his decision and yes Florida is in the running along with OLB Phillip Webb.

Both Smith and Dumervil announce at 11 AM ET on ESPN 2

Webb at noon probably at ESPN noon.

Florida is one of five teams in the running. I hope he doesn't go to UGA or Ohio State.

Quite a let down all around on this group—ESPECIALLY re Emmit’s son as a “legacy”...The moment I realized that all the surrounding vibes were saying, “probably NOT...” on HIM, I kinda KNEW we had our work ahead just holding our OWN IN THAT area...
Ah well...we’ll manage; that whole NESD (“National Early Signing Day”) presser/hat-trick-string proceeded predictably, given the way things work nowadays, it seems.
We are gonna HAVE to crack that “5-Star Impasse” somehow ANYWAY...and the ONLY way I can see Coach Dan & Co. doing that ANYTIME SOON is:
“Simply WIN THE LAST GAME!”: the only “LAST GAME” that matters—in the CFP-Final Four!
Now, there are different paths to GET there, different dramas variously played out, but ultimately that’s what it’s all about...
Muscle into that FFF on a regular basis now and your share of “The Very Best” will come to YOU—while your hard workers out on the road can continue to concentrate on all the OTHER details in the forms that will fill out a complete, winning team and roster. Different formulae for getting there, but the pattern—and eventual “final form”, is consistently recognizable.
Ya just gotta build towards that kind of consistent EXCELLENCE; At some point you find a way to take that step from “consistently very GOOD” (where we are at now—practically from the moment Dan Mullens arrived!) up to the aforementioned “consistent EXCELLENCE” FOR ALL TO SEE.
All WE can do is support our Coach, and hope he really feels it—feels the unconditional support he deserves, the kind of support we have in the past I think FAILED to make certain a Coach like Spurrier for example deserved and felt. He should NEVER HAVE HAD TO GO ELSEWHERE in order to find peace while continuing to Coach; but what’s done is done, a different time, water under the bridge etc etc...the process of bringing HIM fully “back into the fold”continues, and all we can do is LEARN OUR LESSONS. Let us commit to and support THIS Coach, appreciate his unfailing success with and support for this team and program from the moment he arrived here: See and APPRECIATE ALL THAT HE ACCOMPLISHES HERE, see where it takes us, and reward him accordingly.

I knew Emmitt Junior was not going to Florida. EJ has not been exposed to Florida culture very much during his childhood. It was pretty well known for quite some time that he was going to Texas A&M or Stanford.

At least the Gators are still in the top 10 in recruiting.
More importantly, most of these athletes grew up rooting for the Gators. Star ratings are great, but I would not want a player like EJ who never rooted for the Gators when there are running backs available who are almost as good, have a better work ethic, and who genuinely love the Gator Nation.

Personally, I don't care if they cheer for the Gators or not as kids though it helps but sometimes it doesn't (John Brantley anyone?). Just sign on the dotted line and hope they Most of these student-athletes are going to go where the opportunity is. Yes, the four-five star players (maybe three star as well) will have plenty of schools to choose from. Weren't the Pouncey twins FSU fans but went to Florida?

Dan Mullen learned from the Urban Meyer years that collecting stars for the sake of collecting stars just leads to disaster. He learned at Mississippi State that building cohesive teams is more important. Somewhere along the way he decided that players who actually enjoy being here will be better teammates.

E.J. would not enjoy being in Gainesville, so I would not want him on the team even if he had 10 stars out of five.
