BTW, in the midst of so much else and so many other details and issues worth noting and dealing with, between confusion and circumstances certain things can sometimes be lost or forgotten. We will NOT let that happen HERE:
There is absolutely no doubt that this Seminole team, however or wherever it originated, was once again head-hunting on Saturday night--LITERALLY so. It was a lead-with-the-helmet-to-helmet hit that took out Kitchens, who has been getting better-in-a-hurry since getting on the field to fill in for other injured defenders a couple of games back, and was tearing THRU' their offense, disrupting plays until they finally connected after repeated near-misses.
Then there was that play that took out Brantley: pure example of what I'm talking about here, a DIRTY play involving at LEAST 2 players "setting him up" for the third to hurt him (personally, I hate to say it but by that point I was HOPING he might get knocked out--he was that bad, and yet it was clear that Weis would stay with him as long as he was able to "stand in the pocket", and that Muschamp wouldn't press the issue 'cause it was JB's last game in the Swamp...I thought the Moles were nuts for still going after him, considering his unforced errors had already handed them 14 points, but maybe they figured he was the only one who might bring us BACK, as well--or maybe it was just such a big part of the original gameplan that they couldn't really "call off the dogs" at that point)...Anyway, the details are beside the point: we have a lot of reasons to feel a certain contempt for that lesser cross-state institution and its mediocre products, but their obsessive attention-craving efforts become reprehensible and unacceptable when they manifest in this fashion.
We Can Not, WILL Not Forget these and the other such offenses against not just our players, but by extension, all of Gatordom--and indeed all accepted decency in on-field behavior.
You know the expression, "Sew the wind, Reap the whirlwind!" This is not something we'll whine about, argue publicly or even MENTION anywhere than among ourselves. It is instead the sort of thing one holds close to one's heart, keeps alive and burning inside ALL of us, until the time comes that we can DO something about it. That time will come, and we'll enjoy it all the more, in a cold and relentlessly unmerciful way when it does--not just once, for ONE game, but REPEATEDLY, for game after game, season after season: THAT is the seed we plant now, THAT is the crop they will harvest in years ahead, AND DON'T YOU FORGET IT. GO GATORS!!!
