Bounced from NCAA consideration after falling to BYU in the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament, the San Diego State Aztecs (20-12) will face Florida (21-11) in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament in Gainesville on Wednesday (9 p.m. EST, ESPN2).

Game Notes:

• The University of Florida is making its eighth appearance in the NIT, and its first since 1998...UF has a 6-9 overall record in NIT play and reached the semifinals in both 1986 and 1992
• The Gators have reached postseason play for the 11th consecutive year - nine NCAA Tournaments and two NIT appearances
• UF has a 4-1 record all-time in NIT games played at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center with its most recent game being its lone loss, a 71-69 loss to Georgetown on March 11, 1998

The Gators took command of this game early on and were in control up the last buzzer - and compared to their last several games made very few mistakes. If only they could have played the way they did Wednesday night during the last part of the regular season.......

Looks like Billy Donovan's tactic of locking them out of their practice facility had some effect after all!

I'm not sure we were playing that great, or the competition wasn't as good...

At this level, these guys have to bring their "A" game every night...

SPEIGHTS :mad0235: :mad0235: the guy has all of the talent and physical capabilities in the world...but only applies it occasionally. He says he still gets
tired...I say he doesn't work hard enough in the conditioning aspect of this. Look at Tyler Hansbrough. That guy goes 110% and plays the whole game.

Just an observation. Billy needs to kick the tires and light the fires....
