Never forget the Americans who gave their lives in military service to this nation. Lest we forget the following Florida Gators who have died in combat or on active duty:
- Walter "Tiger" Mayberry. Gator Great, Marine Corps ace, died in POW camp in New Guinea. March 14, 1915 – March 5, 1944.
- Bill Corry. Medal of Honor, namesake of Naval Station Corry in Pensacola. October 5, 1889 – October 6, 1920. Died rescuing fellow passengers after aircraft crashed. Earned Medal of Honor for saving multiple lives in the Hartford, Connecticut crash.
- Hubert Schucht. Former student body president. Killed in action August 23, 1944, Normandy, France.
- William Taylor. Died August 17, 1966. Pleiku, Vietnam. Distinguished Device Cross.
