Jaguars Chasing After Gators in First Round
Posted Apr 24th 2007 9:00AM by David J. Warner
Gainesville, Florida, is a about 71 miles from Jacksonville, and from the looks of things, the Jaguars don't want their first-round draft pick to travel any further than that.
Reports out of Jacksonville indicate that two Florida Gators are high on the Jaguars' wish list -- defensive end Jarvis Moss and safety Reggie Nelson. Either one would fill a need for the Jags on the defensive side of the field. Jack Del Rio has been saying he wants to pick a defensive player this time after years of picking wide receivers first. The Jags have enough receivers at this point. Reggie Williams, Matt Jones, Dennis Northcutt and Ernest Wilford will have to start earning their keep. Same goes for tight ends Mercedes Lewis and Jermaine Wiggins. If that corps ends up failing the Jags, Del Rio may be packing his bags next January.
They have enough quarterbacks, too, as Quinn Gray has re-signed with the team for another season. I guess that search for a starter's job somewhere else didn't pan out so well. Even the Raiders weren't interested. Imagine that.
