Gator Fan
The Gators will begin spring practice on Wednesday March 14th, and believe it or not, two practices will be somewhat "open" to the public.
Practice Friday March 16 from 4:25-6:35 p.m. and Saturday March 17 from 12:55-3:00 p.m. will be open to the public.
It's probably likely fans won't get the authentic Muschamp/Gators practice during these two hour segments but will at least get a taste of the Gators in action. It's a decent trade off rather than having absolutely no access to Gators spring practice.
It will be the first time under coach Will Muschamp the public and or the media will get to see a Gators practice (save for brief moments in an ESPN All-Access segment).
The two open practices have a marketing angle-they are in conjunction with Florida Football’s Annual Coaches Clinic.
But it's a start. It will be interesting to see what if any practices are open for Fall Practice.
Spring practice concludes with the annual Orange and Blue Debut to be played April 7.
-Muschamp's annual speaking tour will kick off Thursday April 19th in Gainesville at the Titletown Gator Club. The speaking tour will conclude Thursday May 24th in Destin at the Emerald Coast Gator Club. In total Muschamp will be at 10 events officially. See the complete schedule at the Gators official website.
Other Notes
-The Gators are interested in 2013 quarterback Boeing Brown out of Brookfield, Connecticut. No offer has been extended but he has been invited to the next Gator junior day.
-Chris Rainey did very well at the NFL scouting combine. He had the top time in the 60-yard shuttle (11.06 seconds) 20-yard shuttle (3.93 seconds) and three-cone drill (6.50 seconds).
He ran the 40 in 4.45 tying him for the second-best time along with LaMichael James (Oregon), and Ronnie Hilman (San Diego State). The top time went to Lamar Miller (Miami) at 4.40.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Minnesota Vikings have interviewed Rainey and he could potentially join Percy Harvin in Minny as a third-down back.
Rainey could very likely get a shot on an NFL team as a special teams player, both as punt blocker and a return man.
NFLDraftScout.com projects Rainey as a 3-4th round pick in April's NFL daraft.
The Gators will host a Pro Day to showcase Rainey and other seniors on March 13th.
