Gators move up to #15 in both AP and Coaches' Top 25

The Gators impressive win over the Vols' Saturday was good enough for a two-spot jump in the USA TODAY College Football Coaches' Poll released Sunday.

The Gators are ranked No. 15 in the Coaches' Poll, up from No. 17 a week ago. UF moves up just one spot in the AP poll to No. 15 from No. 16 .

The lack of a major jump, say near the Top 10, is more of an indictment of the Vols and a UT program with talent that has not blossomed than it is on the Gators. Also there are still quite a few 3-0 teams who began the season ranked higher.

Oklahoma remains No. 1 after defeating Florida State 23-13 Saturday night in Tallahassee.

Fine with me--don't believe we've done enough to jump higher than that yet--more important, don't really WANT to start getting too much of either media attention OR media hype (too early in our young team's college experience to expect them to learn to ignore sudden fame, fawning attention and public acclaim). Better for OUR guys to maintain a bit of a chip on their shoulders, feel DISrespected for as long as possible. This is a team and season that requires them to hunker down together, work hard and keep getting better, feel like outsiders coming on "under the radar".

I agree DRU, the polls really don't matter as long as we keep winning. Will probably go to 13 with a win next week at Kentucky. No matter what the outcome of the game is, it will be interesting to see where we move after we play Bama.
