I said I wouldn't write another article about the Gator men's basketball team this year because I was pissed with their performance down the stretch... but I lied. If the Gators are playing, I'll cover it.
Last night the Gators completely whooped the Jacksonville University Dolphins 84-62. It wasn't a sell out crowd at the O'Connell Center, but there was a good crowd their for the opening round of the NIT.
Nick Calathes led the Gators in scoring with 19 points, finishing 8-of-10 shooting and adding six rebounds and six assists. Parsons also had a good game bringing 17 points and 14 rebounds off the bench. Parsons pretty much dominated the glass for the Gators. Wish he would play like that all the time.
Sophomore forward Alex Tyus scored Florida's first seven points and finished with 13. Freshman guard Erving Walker added 11 and junior forward Dan Werner chipped in 10 points and five assists. Florida shot 56 percent for the game and was 9-of-19 from behind the arc.
The Gators will host the Miami Hurricanes on Friday night at 7 p.m. in the O'Dome.
