Update: According to several other sources and reports, Gators strength and conditioning coach Mickey Marotti will head to Ohio State to join Urban Meyer's staff. Muschamp has hinted often this year that he'd like a bigger stronger, not necessarily faster Gator roster-without knowing the ins and outs of the Gators S&C program this past year-a different S&C coach may have a bigger effect on the program than one might think.
-The Gators are expected to play in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville against Ohio State Jan 2. That's not final but it has a nice story line with Urban Meyer being named the new Ohio State coach-though Luke Fickell will coach the Buckeye's final game.
The Chick-fil-A Bowl is also said to be a possibility for the Gators.
-Redsirt freshmen Lynden Trail and Joshua Shaw have each decided to transfer from UF.
Ultimately this is a benefit for Will Muschamp as these are two players in Urban Meyer's 2010 recruiting class who didn't see the field much. It will allow Muschamp to provide more schollly's to help build his program-and hopefully these student-athletes can resume their careers elsewhere.
The total number of transfers in the Muschamp era is now at 11. The roster itself is now at 68. The NCAA roster limit is 85.
Trail Tweeted that he has been in contact with Urban Meyer himself, and likely could land at OSU.
From @GODAFFILIATED92 Lynden Trail: JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH URB #TEAMMEYER..
-Speaking of Twitter Jeff Driskel responded to rumors that he would transfer on the social network as well. He tweeted recently @JeffDriskel ""Great to be a gator. Here for the long run #inallkindsofweather""
-Florida Today reports there has been speculation that at least two assistants on the Gators' current staff, strength coach Mickey Marotti and special teams coach DJ Durkin could wide up on Urban Meyer's staff at OSU.
-Florida AD Jeremy Foley spoke with Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi recently. Foley said that one of Will Muschamp's strengths is his emotion. He said Muschamp improved in respect to his sideline demeanor and specifically since the Auburn game where his sideline comments were caught by National TV cameras. Muschamp told Foley after Auburn game "I get it, I've got a nine-year old and a five-year at home and that's not the way I want to be and I'll get better there".
Foley said he loves the idea of an Ohio State-Florida Gator Bowl.
