Florida will get a significant test from a Big East opponent when it opens play at the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando.
According to a report from CBSSports.com’s Jon Rothstein, Florida will face Seton Hall in its opening tournament game on Thanksgiving Day. Other opening round games will include Gonzaga vs. Quinnipiac, Iowa State vs. Indiana State and Miami vs. Stanford. The tournament is being held at the Milk House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
Seton Hall finished last season 25-9 and won the Big East Tournament, upsetting eventual national champion Villanova in the title game. But the Pirates were unable to sustain the momentum into the NCAA Tournament, falling 68-52 to Gonzaga in a first-round game. Seton Hall returns four starters from last season’s game, but lost leading scorer and dynamic combo guard Isaiah Whitehead, who declared early for the NBA draft and was taken in the second round by the Brooklyn Nets.
Florida’s non-conference schedule is continuing to take shape. Here’s a look at some confirmed dates:
