Despite spotty attendance in recent seasons, the Florida men’s basketball program made money following the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
In 2010, Florida men’s basketball reported an operating profit of more than $2.5 million. Florida basketball generated $9,646,520 in total revenue against $6,866,541 in expenses.
In 2009, Florida basketball made more than $2.2 million. Florida generated $9,174,653 in revenue against $6,947,863 in expenses.
UF’s basketball expenses include coaching salaries. Florida coach Billy Donovan made about $3.5 million in each of those two seasons as part of a six-year, $21 million contract extension.
Florida’s basketball attendance ranked 42nd in the country in 2010-11. The Gators averaged 10,186 fans per game in the 12,000-seat O’Connell Center.

Recent UF graduate Chandler Parsons is working out in Los Angeles and has impressed in early NBA predraft workouts.
Tennessee freshman forward Tobias Harris and Kentucky freshman point guard Brandon Knight have decided to keep their names in for the NBA draft.
