Will Muschamp said on Friday that sophomore quarterbacks Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett will both play in the season opener against Bowling Green Sept 1st.
A starter has yet to be named, but an official depth chart is expected to be released Monday.
But Driskel is yet to be cleared for contact however, and will be evaluated on Monday. If Driskel is not cleared for contract, he won't play Saturday. But Muschamp sounds like a coach who is expecting that he will play.
And it's not hard to fathom that Sept. 1 against a weaker Bowling Green will be open audition for the starter's job the following week, Sept. 8 against Texas A&M in College Station, TX.
"I met with both quarterbacks this morning," Muschamp said, according to the school's website.
"Both guys will play in the first game. They both deserved the right to play. They have earned that. They both have had really good camps."
Muschamp continued to advise that there is no discernible differences between the two, including stylistically and that the offensive scheme doesn't need to change when Driskel or Brissett is under center.
Muschamp said the Gators can win with both player, and he is not afraid to go with a two-quarterback system concluding, "It didn't seem to affect LSU last year"
