Apparently, Billy Donovan and Will Muschamp have been comparing notes. The #11 Gators beat Vanderbilt 66-40 using a suffocating defense to claim their second outright SEC title in three years, and the Gators' fifth overall under Billy D (sixth overall). At the half, the Gators were only leading 24-14 before they unleashed their deep strike offense a la Steve Spurrier in the second half.
The Gators will head to Kentucky's Rupp Arena this weekend to continue making a play for a national title. As long as the Gators do not suffer any more injuries, they should be in good shape as other top-ranked teams such as Indiana, Georgetown, and Miami have all been falling short.
Seniors Scottie Wilbekin, Will Yeguete, and Casey Prather were also part of the 2010-2011 SEC championship team, which makes this dynamic trio the first in Gator history to win two outright SEC championships.
