He was forced to change his entire coaching style. The Urban Meyer from 2005-2008 seems entirely different than the Urban Meyer in 2010. He's been forced to give his responsibilities to assistants. In 2005-2008, that wouldn't have been a problem because we had two good coordinators in Dan Mullen...
Who knows if this is even a true Meyer team? His health situation has forced him to delegate a lot of work to people like Addazio.
At this point, I think it's becoming more and more clear that he's not the same coach as he was before.
This offense is bad. Anyone who can't see that, coaches included, has their head in the sand. These coaches need to make adjustments and figure out how to get these guys going, because I don't see how an offense with so many top recruits can be so out of sync and dysfunctional.
The defense...
"Mike Pouncey is considered Florida's best offensive linemen, and one of the nation's elite. He has graded out a champion in every game this season and is a potential first-round NFL draft pick."...
It's looking more and more like Addazio = Jeff Bowden.
I disagree with the thread premise. We had no offensive identity even last year with Tebow. We had several poor performances before we got pummeled in the SEC championship. It makes a lot of sense considering 2009 was Addazio's 1st year...
Some recent statements from Addazio:
"We’re not (predictable); that, we’re not,” he said. “We’re pretty diverse. We still maintain some option, we still maintain some spread, we still maintain and empty throw game. We’re very diverse."
"Absolutely not. Are you kidding me? ... Never even...
Mullen's offense showed it could produce and Mullen's playcalls were better. And Mullen was at least someone who wasn't as conservative as Meyer unlike the ultra-conservative Addazio, whose playcalls are predictable. Addazio's offense also looks almost perpetually out of sync and lost.
Dan...
I blame both Addazio and Meyer.
It's clear the poor snaps have gone to Pouncey's head and messed up his game even more. I don't blame him for that, as anyone would start to second guess after making that many mistakes. The coaches have dug their heads in the sand hoping the problem goes away...
My pet peeve is their stubborn insistence to leave Pouncey at center. I don't see how anyone, even O-town, can defend leaving him there when he's made mistake after mistake. Surely an elite program like us can find a center capable of snapping the ball properly.
I think this whole thing...
I agree. If we show up to Atlanta with the same gameplan, we will lose again.
Until this staff decides to switch things up, I'm not expecting us to win a rematch.
The entire coaching staff, led by Meyer, needs to sit down and realize that they've been thoroughly outcoached twice in a row by Alabama, while the players have been physically beaten down by the Alabama players and looked like a JV team playing a varsity team.
Until Meyer and Addazio realize...
I didn't expect perfection. It's one thing to drop some games, but it's something entirely different to get blown out by 4 TD's and not even look like we should be on the same field as another team.
The players didn't play their best, but regardless, this is now 3 different Meyer-led teams that have not only lost, but been pummeled, by Alabama. That falls on him.
At this point, I don't even know if it's Addazio. Addazio might very well be just taking orders from Meyer.
Whoever is responsible though is doing a very poor job. I can't remember anything Mullen ever did in his tenure here that looked as horrendous as what we've seen so far.
The coaches just are so stubborn they refuse to change. The dive isn't working, but no they just want to keep running it over and over while ignoring that they could exploit the Alabama secondary.
As maligned as he may have been, Dan Mullen was a far better offensive coordinator than Addazio.
Now hopefully it's become apparent why so many of us were upset at the team earlier in the season. We look completely disjointed and look nothing short of terrible. We basically look like a JV team playing the varsity. I didn't think it could get much worse than the 2005 Bama game and the 2009...
