Some observations following Florida’s 93-54 win over Missouri on Thursday night:

— Florida did a good job of spreading minutes around heading into less than a 48-hour turnaround on Saturday against No. 8 Kentucky. Leading scorer KeVaughn Allen was held to 23 minutes, while centers John Egbunu (17 minutes) and Kevarrius Hayes (18 minutes) both played under 20 minutes. Chris Chiozza played the longest (29 minutes) because he was going for a triple-double, and though Chiozza limped off the court following the game, it was only due to cramping issues. By building a big lead, Florida was able to rest some starters and have some fresh legs heading into the matchup with the ‘Cats.

— It was clear at points that Florida was trying to get Egbunu’s confidence going offensively against Missouri heading into the Kentucky game. But Egbunu again was unable to finish close to the rim, going 2 of 6 from the floor with a missed dunk. However, the 6-foot-11 Egbunu was engaged on the defensive end against Missouri with five defensive rebounds (7 total), one steal and one blocked shot.

— Florida freshman center Gorjok Gak was able to get some playing time due to the lopsided score and showed flashes of his defensive and athletic ability with two points, two rebounds and two blocked shots in 5 minutes. Gak’s lone basket came when he followed up his own miss with a putback. Those instincts will serve the 6-foot-11 Australian well as his college career progresses.
